Meeting at Java Shack at 6, then do the loop counterclockwise (putting us at the W&OD / Custis intersection at ~6:20/25ish. The group will probably split at HDCC (I’m playing hooky and will actually go to HDCC tomorrow). I’ve never been to HDCC, and I believe the venue changes (BB vs Carlyle), so I’ll just be on the lookout for bikes parked outside a shop in Shirlington.

Hope to you can join us.

Ray’s ^3rd (b/n Rosslyn & Courthouse, across the street from the original Ray’s the Steaks and Hell Burger) has a separate (but not closed off) room, it can probably seat ~20. What’s the expected turn out we should be scouting venues for? ( / for which we should be scouting venues)?

Are there price point guidelines for the pointless prizes? Or are they all intended to symbolic and of no monetary value (like trophies)?

…for some reason I feel like this post is jumping the gun a little… I guess you tell what part of this I’m most interested in… prizes and parties

FYI–You are right, my understanding is that the temporary zig-zag ramp is in ADA accordance and not built with bikes in mind. The bike ramp alongside the stairs are intended for bikes.

So we can probably all take a moment to be grateful that we don’t *need* those (and other ADA) ramps.

Apart from the obvious fashion / style points, what are the benefits of knickers over full-length tights? Is it for when it’s too cold for shorts but not cold enough for pants?

    Thanks

    As for my layering today;
Top half: Under Amour compression long-sleeve mock coldgear + UA fitted long-sleeve mock coldgear + windbreaker + turlefur (this was the first time w/ both UA layers on)
Bottom half: tights, sweatpants, hiking socks, shoe cover
hands: glove liner, and my normal gloves (fingers were cold)

Arrived a little sweaty, but not too bad. I was careful not to push it too hard up the hills.

    Thank you!

Maybe some context would help, what do you need this for? Because I think just about any job could have an environmentally beneficial aspect to it, like accountant for the EPA. Or are you looking for something a little more hands on?

Ah, that man is upside down.

Also it hurts to look at that picture, my brain is rejecting it. (not because of the person but because of the orientation) ;)

Have people have particularly good or bad experience with their heart rate monitor and syncing with Strava?

    Here’s the Strava site:
    https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/22118588-Android-and-external-Biometric-sensors

    What monitor do you use?

Strava says, “Please note we do not currently support the Zephyr HxM Smart using Bluetooth LE.” I take that to mean that Strava is not compatible w/ Zephyr’s best monitor; that’s unfortunate. Is the Zephyr HxM good enough?

Kind of surprising but you don’t even need to go premium for the heart rate information, just for the suffer score: “For Premium members, Strava analyzes the total time spent within different heart rate ranges, and can calculate a Strava Suffer Score to measure how hard you work during each activity.”

    Thanks

Shouldn’t the awards ceremony be outside? Maybe NorthSide Social?

Thanks for the great ride. And thanks for showing me that stretch of 4MR, I’d never ridden it before.

See everyone next Wednesday (6am at JavaShack).

That’s unfortunately funny – You know government moves slowly when “well on their way to selecting a contractor for a feasibility study” is a sign of progress.

Same deal as normal, we’ll meet at JavaShack at 6 am, but after that our second rally point is the Italian Store on Rt. 29 at 6:10, then off into the N. Arlington hills. When we do this ride we’re generally back to the WOD in Falls Church just before 7. Then we’ll bike back to JavaShack for coffee at 7:15ish.

No doubt. Many of us would be up in arms that the the 2.5 km green wave for cyclists on the arterial street Nørrebrogade is designed to facilitate travel at a 12 mph speed, when we (ELITE cyslists?) ride faster and thus have to stop at lights along the way or slow down. ;)

The ELITE ride at 24 mph and never stop.

Not even when they (we?) get to work. ;)
