For people that have participated in previous years we can incorporate past numbers. I will give this more thought, not sure if I have any strong opinion. On one hand, it may not be fair to strictly take the handicap based on the mileage, since people push harder than they typically ride. But we also don’t want sandbagging. Last year seemed to be a bit more dynamic, but there were definitely see teams that seemingly had little hope if victory.

I like the idea of discount points above your stated milage, and bonusing points below. I’d do a 10% bonus or discount with a +/- 10% window on your stated miles. If you think you’re going to ride 100 and you say 50 then the miles after 55 only count .9. and if you end up only riding 40 then each mile counts 1.1. This gives you a real incentive to give a good guess and to ride when your lagging behind. This should rest every week. The reason not to say 1000 miles/week and load up on the bonus points is that the teams are built to be even based on your stated milage. So although your personal score would be good your team would blame you for falling short of your goal.

Yes, I can attest that the pylons will move if you’re not watching them carefully. There’s no way I would have hit it if it hadn’t moved.

The issue is actually that you’re watching it too carefully. About a yrar ago I went down when I hit a light that fell off the bike on front of me. It was about 2 inches wide and there was no one else on the trail. But it was still moving forward and I was fixated on it(don’t hit it, don’t hit it) so of course I nailed it, skated on it for a second then went down. I’m still not sure how people avoid this trap.

I think this might be a little to far west / suburban / not bike friendly location for most of the forum. It is a cool statue though.

It sure is comforting to know that in this great country we can always fall back on shooting people if we run out of other ideas for solving our problems.

    Ah, ‘murica.

Fall back? This is ‘murica, shooting is hardly the fall back option, seems to be the go to solution.

But this is not about bikes so hopefully Raymo853 will dislike the entire thread soon and we can move on.

I’ve been secretly hoping someone is going to bring BA lights to FMCC II tomorrow.

I thought I’d up my chances by sharing that hope with others.

Can the FCCII be maybe a church or something?

FCCII is a church, we have critical mass every Friday. We break bread together, generally review so of the rules, definitely wear strange clothes, and discuss ways to convert our neighbors and coworkers.

If the chances for heart disease decrease do the chances for being hit by a car while biking increase?

^^Sadly, this is pretty much how we would design a NEW intersection in the US if bike infrastructure were included.

So should we change our design?

If motorized bikes / scooters / mopeds in the bike lane cause you distress do not watch that video.

A badge access cage with a security camera would be great. There is dead space on the lower level of the garage under the up ramp that would be very well suited for this. Thanks for looking in to it

I’m pretty sure one could rig the wiring in a standard light such that contact isn’t made until the break cable is pulled.

So all we need to do is change our whole culture. Why didn’t we think of that sooner.
