Why thank you, Steve. I can’t say what’s the matter, but I’m feeling a little fishy today.

Oh good, now I won’t feel so bad about riding the ice bike while the hybrid gets repaired.
Just thinkin’ the same thing. I put the studs back on the Black Battleship (formerly known as the Black CrossRip) this morning. It felt the prudent thing to do after hearing Steve E.’s story about wiping out at Clarks Gap. But then I felt funny humming along on my studs with the sun shining. Did I mention that the Battleship can plow through any weather, (but it weighs 253 metric tons)
So I say BRING IT ON!

Hey guys and gals at FCCII,
Dang! I teach my class on Fridays at 8am this semester. I considered cancelling all the classes, as a matter of simple priority, but I don’t think the dean would approve, so I’ll be thinking of you, but my next FCCII might not be until Spring Break!

I expect to see Subby’s bike in front of the city limit sign in Jefferson, MD soon.
No, knowing him, it will be Jefferson City, MISSOURI!

Tomorrow is that day again – I expect to arrive at Best Buns between 7:00 and 7:10 am. Hope somebody will be there to join in the festivities.
You won’t be alone! Maybe I’ll see you on the way there!

Still think the best sort of traffic calming is a consistent police presence. Probably would pay for itself on Washington Blvd.
I’m an economist, too. In fact I teach economics, and I agree with OneEighth that accountability is the answer enforced by police presence or better still, speed cameras and fines. In my opinion for traffic ‘calming,’ passive controls (speed bumps/curb narrowing) will never work as well.

Thats a question that was around long before Ken Arrow, and I think is more philosophical than economic. I can accept that there issues when comparing utility across different incomes (does one dollar mean more or less to someone earning 20k than to someone earning 300k – and what does that tell us about BCA of big things like healthcare reform, or minimum wages) I personally very much doubt that its an issue between the owners of million dollar homes on King Street and average cyclists. I would say in that case its a tertiary order effect – if not actually obfuscation
I just love to see economists having fun!

Was it sleazy when I grabbed a CaBi today at lunch time because it wasn’t raining at that moment, and I rode just about 2 miles for the sole purpose of getting in my daily ride? I sure think so. But I’m not proud. I’m sleazy.
In my opinion there no shame in a sleaze ride. They’re all are good! They represent a commitment to ride each day AND they contribute valuable points to your BAFS team (which in this case is ours) So I say you should have pride that you consciously made to effort to get out there! Way to go!

This is my favorite sleaze course. It takes me seven loops to get above the non-sleaze threshold.

Considering the ritzy neighborhood your creative sleaze rides have no doubt been immortalized on a huge number of home security cams!

Is it a sleaze ride if I got on my bike fully intending to bike to work, took a (very low speed) tumble a few blocks from my house, making me rethink my decision, turned around and biked home, and happen to have biked a total of 1 mile when turned off the Strava app at home?
I hope you’re okay after your fall! As for a short ride…who cares what it’s called if it’s points for your team? I have no problems with a sleaze ride, and I would certainly do one in lieu of nothing on any given day.
BTW Karen and I plan to join you on the Magi ride tomorrow. Anything we should bring? Are we supposed to carry stuff?
