ParticipantEveryone,
Thanks for the kind words. Karen B was an angel of of mercy. Yep….the doc popped it back. Won’t know what else is in store ’til I see my Ortho on Monday. Hurts like Hell, but these white pills help. Worst part is no riding; and that’s rough, because I’m a rider and I like to ride.

ParticipantSaturday late afternoon coming south on 15th St. half a block from Constitution, traveling at about 15 mph between the cars stopped for the light and the vending trucks, I hit a giant pavement lump that acted like a ski lift throwing me over the handlebars. I landed hard on my right shoulder and back!! I was in agony! I hailed a cab after passers by locked what was left of my bike to a street pole, called Karen B to meet me and headed for Virginia Hospital Center
The diagnosis: cuts scrapes bruises and a dislocated shoulder. Dang! I guess this means Counsarider is going to get even further ahead of me

I saw Tim Kelly & the new girl (no disrespect) giving out free hi fives at the monolith. Then saw OneEighth crossing Key Br, had to drive today for work and not quick enough to take pics.
Since you mention it….Saw Dirt, too, (no Girl) riding east on Brandymore Castle. Also saw OneEighth coming from Gravely Point towards 14th St Br–we passed in a flash; just had time for a wave!

I’d like Strava to just send a curt yet polite salutory text to my friends who ride by so I don’t actually have to talk to them.
Or you could just say, “Hi,” and keep moving

Obviously I’m an idiot: I’ve tried this gizmo with rides that I *know* that I either passed someone I know coming the opposite direction, or rode with someone I know, and I see nothing but my own stupid face in a circle by itself. No one likes me! Not even Strava!
Hold on a minute…I like you! At least I’m pretty sure I do…ummmm, yeah, okay………and Rockford10 too, but my favs are J&A

4.4 miles Drawing Only
5.1 miles Full RideOfficially my simplest GPS bike ride art drawing. It was a lunch ride with a trip to the library. In fact, this is the only drawing I’ve made that can claim to be totally unplanned. Peter De pointed out what I had made, and I agreed, so here it is!

Do you know if anyone is leading a B2WD convoy up (or down) the Lombard ziz zag?
This raises an interesting question…since two way traffic on the Lonbard Zigzag is problematic even when traffic is light! I’ve never taken the stairs, and I don’t wish to start now, but if there is a convoy of riders coming the other direction, it’s likely to be a long wait. I think I’ll take Eads on B2WD.

Hey guys,
This is where I figured I was just dealing with a crazy old man and should move on, but a younger guy with a stroller then joined the argument, saying something about how bikes have to follow rules at intersections just like everyone else. We weren’t at an intersection… There were people crossing the path from the parking lot to get to the shore of the creek, but it was just grass, so I would think bikes get the right of way there.
Hi, Falcon, welcome to the forum. It sounds like you were doing all the right things, so I have to believe he was just taking some anti-cyclist anger out on an easy target. The fact that you were polite and patient probably explains why you got more than your share of hassle.
This proves that when any rider chooses to be inconsiderate or unlawful there are consequences for all of us riders. You were the unlucky lightning rod in this case. Maybe at busy intersections you’ve seen the painted stencil saying, “Make us bicycle riders look good,” an admonition not to run a red light or ride inappropriately. Although I’m not always my best at this, I’m making a conscious effort to improve, and I acknowledge the importance of leading by example!

3.4 miles Drawing Only
32.6 miles Full RideFor those too young to remember, Sweet Polly Purebred is the girlfriend of ”Underdog” a popular American cartoon character from the 60’s and 70’s—This drawing was planned for a nearby cemetery because the roads were so suggestive of this image. Some off-road excursions were required to make the details of Polly’s face and I had to use a little finesse, walking the bike with light steps between the graves! The cemetery spectacle was even more amusing, because I made this ride/drawing with 4 other cyclists, a family, (dkel, rockford10, and their two boys, 10 and 12). Everyone was eager to try GPS art riding, and I invited them to join me because these quiet roads were perfect for younger riders! At only 3.4 miles, this is one of the shortest drawings so far, and we ate lunch at an outdoor café afterwards. It was a perfect spring day, and dkel and I enjoyed an additional 30-mile ride looping around Arlington.
