Participantwhat I thought was going to be a beautiful ride home ended up being ride home in the rain. I was cold and wet. what a bummer. But any day on a bike is better than being in a car.

Participantwell I WAS cold this morning guys, and I had my pants on. I didn’t wear a full jacket but did have a light windbreaker on. It was cold guys. I even thought about ear muffs but didn’t put them on. I did wish I had gloves that covered my fingers. they were cold. so don’t laugh at me when you pass me. Grin. I want the 90’s to come back but I am determined to keep riding. I love those 15 miles in the morning and in the afternoon. Best part of my day. As long as it doesn’t get to icy.

ParticipantI ride through Old town every day morning and night and have yet to see anyone getting a ticket. I will add that I rarely see cyclist stopping at stop signs too. But it is frustrating to come to a complete stop at a stop sign when there are no cars or anyone around. I slow down to an almost stop but do not put my foot down. I will be watching for them this coming week. There are times when cyclists do fly through the intersections but for the most part I think they are looking to see if cars are coming. The are only a couple that slow down as much as I do.

ParticipantMy feet were very wet but they didn’t bother me to much I s just very grateful I could clip in and not worry about slipping of the pedal. It amazed me how loud passing cars seemed in the rain.

Participantmade it home, the advice to keep my glasses on was awesome. I looked through the water spots and did well. it was slow going and around miles 10-15 I thought I was nuts then by mile 19 I was very proud of myself. was completely soaked but I did okay. I was mostly warm. only hands got a bit chilled. Really glad I have clip in cycling shoes so that I didn’t have to worry about my feet slipping. No something I would like to do everyday but I survived it. Glad it doesn’t pour like that everyday. thanks all for giving me courage.

ParticipantThanks liz M. I am just going to be realistic, if at mile 125 I feel like it is too much I will stop. I am crazy but not nuts.
Somehow I think there is a distinction. Who knows, I have read some accounts of it and it does seem daunting. We will see how I do, as long as I do more than 125 it will be a new record for me and that will be exciting. As for going out to fast that never seems to be a problem for me I will have to go out fast enough. I just plan on seeing if I can complete the challenge if not, no big deal.

Participantnope I went with the black, I think I look scarier on the black. Didn’t want my specialized to be jealous, I have gotten used to her black color. Need to look tough while I am out touring.

ParticipantI of course will be on my BRAND SPANKING NEW Surly Troll this weekend. It is a small as I am only about 5’4. But I am sure it is pure beauty…..
I will post pictures as soon as I pick her/him up. Haven’t decided on the gender yet I will have to meet him/her and then decide. I am currently thinking she is a beast.

ParticipantI am marshaling the shortest distance. Need to get my bike legs back, I was a slacker all winter. I totally regret taking the winter off. Next year I will ride all winter.
