ParticipantI’ve found that TCX files work best for turn by turn directions. How well they work depends on the quality of the TCX file as well as the maps you have loaded in your Garmin. I bounce around a bit with what I put on the MicroSD card. Most of the last few years I’ve been using Open Street Maps. When the directions start getting wonky, it is usually a sign that it is time for me to update the maps. I don’t fully understand why that is the case, but I’ve found it to be true.
Most recently I went back to using official Garmin maps in my 800 and it is working well.
It is possible to get a TCX file from a Strava GPX. I download the GPX file from Strava, then upload that to RideWithGPS as a route. I then can download it to my Garmin as a TCX file.
Hope that helps a little.

ParticipantBikenetic has 3 or 4 sets of studded tires coming into stock tomorrow. I’ll post up some photos tomorrow night, as well as some details. If I recall correctly, they’re all sized for 700c wheels… 700×30 and 700×40 size, and in a few different tread patterns. If you’d like to see before you buy, swing by or give us a call.

What’s the price range? I’m likely coming out to get some.
Nice to see you, Henry. Sorry that I didn’t see this post earlier. I’m not on the forum as much as I used to be.
For those who haven’t stopped by the shop, there are 2 levels of Bar Mitts. The regular thickness ones are $75. The “Extreme” ones, that are much thicker for colder weather, are $125.

ParticipantAs of yesterday, Bikenetic had Innova 700x45cm studded tires in stock. They’re a good all-round tire… good ice traction, but also good tread for loose snow.
We also place orders on Tuesdays which normally arrive on Wednesday. This week we had customers purchase studded tires from Nokian, Schwalbe and 45Nrth.
I’m partial to the Nokians if your intent is to ride in loose snow, hardpack and ice.
Keep in mind a few things about studded tires. 1) It is a good idea to break them in a little before heading out on the ice. Riding them on pavement for 15-20 miles at a mellow pace to help set the studs into the rubber casing of the tire. 2) Studded tires don’t instantly make you a superhero on snow. There is technique to riding on ice and snow that will make you a better rider even when you’re on dry pavement. 3) Practice makes perfect.
Have fun!

ParticipantIf you don’t find some locally, I’ve had pretty good luck buying older Oakleys on eBay. If they’re not the really obscure ones, which the M-Frames were not, they can be had for a reasonable price.
I’ll see what I can find over the next few days.
Good luck.
