    So really, the important question:

Road bike or hybrid for HDCC tomorrow? :)

    –Pete

I rode home at about 9pm. Brandymore Castle Hill is icy on both sides. There were little icy patches spread out on the Custis and W&OD between Ballston and East Falls Church.

Just rode W&OD and Custis from EFC Metro to Ballston and there is just a little slush at Brandymore Castle.

But it takes up so much real estate. :D

I guess I just don’t need that much real-estate. 2 lights, garmin and a coffee mug holder and I’ve still got virtually the entire right side of my bars available for what-ever. Problem is…. I can’t think of anything else I want to add to my bars. Maybe another coffee mug holder!

Maybe a slightly smaller coffee mug. Yeah, but it doesn’t give the same caffiene jolt, does it? Maybe brewing an extremely strong cafe Americano (or a quintupal espresso?) instead of that that insipid drip stuff?

My handlebar coffee mug holder seems to work pretty well. :D

    Water bottle holder?

Mine doesn’t fit there very well. It bends up the cage a lot. :D

Looking out the window here in downtown DC, the snow seems to have tapered off. Hopefully that means the fluff will melt away by evening…

It was deep enough in some spots for my fender mudflap to work as a plow.

Noon Report on Custis and parts of the W&OD.

Remember all that “snow not sticking” that you read before? It’s sticking now! Basically all of the places that had snow and ice lingering on the Custis and W&OD have 1/2-2″ of fluffy, white snow. Slush was starting to accumulate. Bridges are snowy and slushy.

I rode home with slick touring tires and 4 full panniers and didn’t have much of a problem. The hill on the W&OD near Brandymore Castle (just east of East Falls Church) is quite an adventure!!! Mountain bike or cross tires with tread will have no problems before it freezes tonight. Late this evening and tomorrow morning may be icy.

    I’ll have photos up soon.

    Hugs and kisses,

    Pete

It’s a long shot, but I’ll actually try and be there. I’ve got a downtown meeting that it wouldn’t hurt me to be early for. :D

    Rock on!

I tend to run my light UNDER the handlebars in order to reduce the clutter.

Kinda hard to see, but the bars are not too cluttered. 2 lights and a gps.

Nelle made them for WABA’s Women & Bikes. Do you need her email?

Nelle used Pace and said the experience was awesome. They have many styles from which to choose.
