ParticipantMany of the roads in our area are not in very good shape. Much of my ride home from DC this afternoon was on roads that were icy and/or had a much more narrow lane that was rideable. Be safe out there tomorrow.

ParticipantI’d just like to report that as of 8pm last night, the W&OD and Custis trails were pretty much clear and ice free from Rosslyn to Vienna. There were a few little icy spots.
Yes. I know exactly how helpful this post is.
I love you!

Anyone ride the Custis today? How is the Lee-to-Lee mogul? Still pretty icy? Other spots icy?
B
I rode it early this morning and it was more ice and less snow than before. Most of the same spots are still icy or snowy. Not much change.
Good news is that the W&OD from Reston West is good.

Amazing how sublimation can be so quick to make passages when the humidity is low in sub-freezing weather. Won’t be so easy on the rink in the shady apt. stretches between Spout and Rosslyn on the Custis, may as well just bring on the Zamboni!

They were still snowy when I rolled through at about 1pm this afternoon.

Lee to Lee on the Custis has stretches of light snow still, and small bits of ice. I was fine on CX tires – I imagine 25mm road tires would be doable too with enough caution.
Thank you, sir. Just heading into the office.

ParticipantI will not be able to make it. I’ve got work to get done before work. I love the idea though!

ParticipantAmazing!
Even with all this crap, the brakes worked and shifters shifted.

ParticipantToday was a great day not to drive.

ParticipantWhat an amazing day to be riding a bike!!!! Conditions were and are changing very quickly. The snow was fluffy, then slushy, then icy, then wet. Riding home late this morning I went from riding in the sunshine to dark clouds and heavy snow in about 90 seconds.
On Topic: The sun is warming and clearing everything it hits. It is still cold enough that shaded areas that regularly hold snow and ice are staying snowy and icy. A hardpack and icy line is forming on the path through these shaded areas. Cross tires with tread worked well. Icy spots will be around tomorrow morning.
