ParticipantI can’t begin to thank this community enough for the way y’all supported, embraced and helped make this ride happen. Any attempt to list would inevitably have me forgetting some amazing thing that someone did and I don’t want to do that. Thanks to each and every one of you for your giving to this ride in time, charity, energy, sweat and love…. most of all love. We joked around a lot today… I particularly joked about the love I feel for y’all during the ride… but it is sincere. We did some amazing things yesterday. We had 40+ people at the start. We had 14 finishers at the end. The social ride was the backbone of keeping us all rolling.
I was asked “what if this ride gets bigger” many times yesterday… usually with a worrying tone that it might go away. It won’t go away. Likely what will change is my ability to lead from the front. It’ll stress independence and navigation skills, in addition to climbing legs.
I finally found a photo that sums up Kill Bill Century pretty well:
A picture is worth 1000 words. The vast majority of the words associated with this photo are not repeatable in polite company. Here are the rest of my photos for the day. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pedrogringo/sets/72157644526367515/
Thank you again. I’d love to hear your stories of the ride! I’ll share mine as I absorb it all.
I love you people!

ParticipantEndura 3/4 are awesome and extremely durable. They are not, however, casual clothing. They’ve got Endura logos on them. I wear bib shorts under them. Short rides are around 30-40 miles, longer ones go upward of 150.
I tend to wear casual shorts or pants on the outside and bib shorts underneath. That has worked pretty well. We are all a bit different in the way that we ride and how we do in different short/pant combinations. My rides in casual clothing tend to be 10-20 miles with street clothes and regular underwear, 20-80 miles with casual clothes and bib shorts underneath. The limiting factor for me is dealing with being sweaty. Casual pants and jeans don’t breathe as well as cycling-specific gear.

Sorry to ask such a mundane question… what do people do about lunch?
And other, ah, necessary stops? What the others say. There are stops every 20-30 miles for resupply. That said, these stops need to be kept as short as possible. Long stops make it very easy to not get going again. With a large group, like it appears that we’ll have, we will need to keep the nose to the grindstone a bit!
