I love that road too. It is part of the MS ride. I also use that when doing the Mount Weather loop.

I don’t know exactly where that photo is taken, but the road is very familiar.

that’s right, it’s the bike MS ride. will have to narrow down the search area (thanks for the mapmyride route) before i go searching.

Singlespeed/fixed CR1… that must weigh what, 3, 4lb? Very nice. I have nothing to contribute, just ogling.
thanks, it’s pretty light without the grouppo – 14.08 lbs, about as much as a medium bowling ball

That hill is like 41st St’s baby brother. Bit of advice – do not do 41st St on a track bike. Especially without brakes. Although if you do, let me know so I can come videotape it.
I have to try it fixed, I don’t have any bikes with gears. The lowest gearing I have is 48×19 (66 gear inches), I think I have a chance of going up. I wouldn’t try going down without brakes.
Sounds like dirt and jabberwocky have tried it on a fixed gear and came close, their gearing was higher than mine. Has anyone made here made it up that hill fixed?

I’m looking down the road a few years, and I know there’s going to be a time when the kids are too big for the trailer (they already complain a bit when they’re both in there, much happier when it’s just one of them) but too small to ride city streets on their own.
This family tandem is AWESOME. It’s a little pricey, however.
Does anyone have suggestions/experience biking with kids who are too big for a trailer?
We tried a trail-a-bike, rented one from a bike store. it’s essentially half a bike, clamps onto your seat post. I thought it felt weird trying to keep balance with our son shifting his weight back & forth. You can only do one child per bike though.

Is that the trail between twin branches & w&od? not sure what it’s named; turquoise maybe?
Sorry, no. Here’s a hint, you can hear 495 traffic coming from the right.

ParticipantI want to try too, is 41st similar to this hill? (photo by VVill, potomac st in georgetown)
Also, if you cross over from DC, do you ride C&O canal or Canal rd to get to chain bridge?dcv

Since my first post is still unidentified, I thought I’d try again with a higher profile location:
base of the wilson bridge, MD side. there’s a nice little park that spans over I-495 at the base of the bridge.
