And I just did a 3 mi test ride on it like this. Might try a commute soon. This is my 2nd lightest bike right now…! And I haven’t even taken off derailleurs or unnecessary gears/rings.

(Saddle/seatpost position needs some tuning.)I sense the the weight weenie is strong in this one. Loosing the gears and brake(s) will make any bike lighter, I’ll post my lightest FG on bike pics thread later tonight. FYI I’ve gotten my reynolds 853 steel frame LeMond FG down as low as 15.15 lbs with pedals.

ParticipantI say take the plunge and go fixed, you’re almost there. My offer stands if you want to try my FG CX (i will flip to the fixed side just for you).
56cm frame with 90mm stem, both brakes. Offer is good for anyone else who wants to try too, just let me know.dcv

So that’s what your bike looks like standing still, it’s usually a blur at 35 mph closing speeds. nice!

I like the rear wheel color-matched to the chainstay on the gin & trombones

dcv, there’s something wrong with the bike in your photos. The pedals don’t move when the wheel does…
I know, and it has water bottles too. Eminva spotted me today but was confused because I was riding a bike with gears.

Totally wimped out on this one…did 40ish miles though, so that’s gotta count for something. As much as I love riding, doing it in cool/cold weather just takes a lot of the fun away for me. I guess I just need to HTFU.
I was looking for Consularrider and your silver R3 all day. At the last minute I was a lazy brain and just took the easy route to Purcellville and rode around there for a bit. I ran out of road at the 50 mile mark:
nice scenery
I used gears today

So this happened..2013 Cervelo R3. ZOMG this thing is amazing! And working with FreshBikes was a fantastic experience, as well…I totally understand why they’re so popular. The 54 fit me like a glove and my fitting with Clovis took just a few minutes. The only real change is that he moved me from a 100mm stem to a 90mm.
I’ll take some better photos tomorrow, but I had to ride it home in the dark tonight, so I only got this one in the store. Glad I brought lights to the shop with me!
beautiful, congrats

ParticipantI’m signed up, going to do it Sunday but not decided on route yet. A member of the BikeArlington Club on Strava did a 100 mile loop I might try: http://app.strava.com/runs/27968899
Sorry I haven’t figured out all the Strava club / Forum member name match-ups yet. (idea for a new thread?)
How are the roads to Point of Rocks and back down the MD side?

I still haven’t made the switch to clips on my fixed gear. Still using platforms with cages+straps. Would kind of like to give clips a try on the fixed gear.
Popping out in a sprint / climb would be bad. I brake with my legs so popping out while trying to stop would be worse. Once I accidentally unclipped with Look pedals going a steep downhill. It was impossible to clip back in with the pedals spinning, I had to use the emergency brake to slow down.

Like everything else, this becomes a question of figuring out what works best for you.
I use Time pedals and keep them as tightly tensioned as I can so that my feet stay put while accelerating or climbing. Far, far worse things can happen if I come off the pedal while climbing or sprinting than if I tip over while almost at a stop.+1, accidentally unclipping on a fixed gear while moving = almost certain death
