Whoa, that flyby thing is awesome! Nice to see Strava making new interesting uses of their data.
I still had a 100-mile day, damnit!

You: Driving in the middle lane of Old Georgetown Road southbound yelling, “Sidewalk!” as though that was where I should be riding.
The proper response is “Beltway!”

ParticipantDepending on how you ride, why not go “mullet brakes” – disc only in the front? You only have to buy one wheel, caliper, and rotor that way.

ParticipantBecause Capital Jetpackshare is not yet open.

How does one pronounce “hozn” anyway?
I would listen with headphones if you’re at work…

Hans and want to ride like him when I grow up)

ParticipantUnfortunately I have obligations at work until at least 11am. Hopefully by the year I’m actually able to join this ride there won’t be a need for it anymore.

(the reflecting pool paths did not look good).
The south side path at the reflecting pool is solid packed snow and ice. I’m taking the north side home – it couldn’t be worse. Will report back.

Wow, I went running on the lake fairfax trails today. Total mud pit. I did see a couple of mountain bikers. I bet they regretted it..,
Tell them to go home. People riding trails like this are destroying them for others. It’s going to be a while before any of the trails in the area are fit to ride.

Sorry Dave – just seeing this so I’m probably posting way too late to be of any use for you. But the hooks are 15″ apart. I initially planned on 16″ but didn’t have the room for 6 hooks so I cut it down to 15″. It’s tight but doable. If I could do 16″ I would have. Yes, there’s a 29er in the bunch.
You overestimate my work ethic… great to know this and I’ve got plenty of time. Thanks.

I know, right? Gone are the days when I would shovel a path from my drive to the nearest plowed street because my street rarely got plowed and I felt compelled to motorcycle to work. Now I prefer to be cold and wet on the bicycle. Is that so wrong?
Of all the motorcycles I would have guessed you owned, a BMW would have been down the list almost as far as a Road King. Remove all extra bits from bicycle, add extra bits to motorcycle?

ParticipantI had not intended to be Billy Badass Belgian Bike Commuter this morning. Got a flat around the Lincoln and the rain beat me into work by 15 minutes.

ParticipantWelcome! I’d be interested to hear more behind the methodology of your study. When you say there are more collisions on 16th St (“accident” implies there’s no one at fault), what data set are you using? Are you considering collisions per cyclist volume, vehicle volume, or both? I’d also love to discuss your calculations for delay. While VISSIM can model cyclist behavior, it’s not always perfect, so if there’s a better microsimulation model out there please let us know! If you’d like to discuss it further in person I’d be happy to meet you in Mt. Pleasant, but I’ll most likely have forgotten my helmet.
