What do we do next year? I’d like to award negative points for days that people don’t ride. I know that the True Meaning of BAFS is up for debate, but for me, riding every day, no matter how nasty it is, is the #1 goal.
Two points:
1- the winning team last year won because 7 of their 9 riders rode everyday. The two of us that couldn’t missed less than 5 days each. That wasn’t uncompetitive. Also, the new point system doesn’t make BAFS less competitive, but it certainly appears to incentive riding daily up to 10 miles, where the old system was get in a good day and then rank as much as you can.
2- I’d support a scoring system that penalizes NOT riding daily, because as you say, the intent of BAFS is to #getoutside daily and #rideyourbike! I’d offer the negative should be some number less than 10, maybe 5? Some of us have to travel and it impacts ability to ride everyday.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ParticipantThe weather appears to be turning sh*t tonight…and I brought my road bike with carbon wheels, and rim brakes. The best night for HH for me is tomorrow. I am booked on Thursday and Friday, and fly out Saturday afternoon. I will ride in the rain (or metro if necessary) so if the preference is in the District, I can meet up.

ParticipantWhile it is literally “technology” related, but more about who is the BAFS2020 Strava Club…how about we boot the people who are not BAFSers and lock the club down. There is a certain demo on Strava that joins EVERY club they can find, and in a lot fo cases, not big deal, but BAFS is a bit different, I think…or, maybe, I’m just a (displaced) Midwest elitist.

ParticipantI would be happy to do so…however, my locale makes that tough, though I did volunteer to sponsor Dirty Biker. Hmmmm.
My issue, however, is the date being used if no snow day….5th is not correct, 26th is.

ParticipantThanks for all of your behind the scenes work on this…agreed, now all that is left to do is ride!

hi all –
excited to be your replacement member! User name Scarabini but real name Emily.
I can commit to biking every day i’m in town but already had to miss a week due to work travel on the west coast, and have a couple upcoming long weekends out of town.
looking forward to meeting you all!cheers!
Welcome! And, when you travel, have you considered bike share options (I just rocked the CaBi while I was in DC…yes, I play form a distance these days)? Regardless, I understand, sometimes it isn’t possible or practical. Glad two have you, we will get you added to the Strava Club as soon as possible to make sure you get credit for your efforts. Please be patient.
