We have our Lanterne Rouges for this year’s Freezing Saddles!

Tom, Team IV FFS, 393 miles, 79 days
Elizabeth, Team 2 We’re Not Last, 841 miles, 79 days

Hats off to both Tom and Elizabeth! I have their prizes and will be contacting them so they can collect them.

I know there’s a tiebreaker to determine who’s supposed to win, but I decided that this year it will end in a tie between:

Filipe, Team 12 Reston Rolls – 656 coffee miles
Matt, Team 1 Eisenlaufmaschinen – 446 coffee miles

Both Filipe and Matt did 26 coffee rides. If I applied the tiebreaker rules (fewest miles ridden), Matt would win.

Decided that I’m going to do something different this year for the prize. Both Filipe and Matt get to do a coffee ride (or meet up) with me and I will treat to coffee and a sweet treat.

As we approach the end of this year’s Semi-Freezing Saddles, I’d like to invite all team captains to name a team most valuable player. This doesn’t have to be the highest point-scorer on your team, though it could be. It could be the person who organizes the most team events, or is always there to give kudos or other encouragement, or meets you at midnight to get in a quick sleaze ride because you’re flying somewhere tomorrow where bikes are illegal.

As captain of Team 14, I’ll start. Our team MVP is Chuck Pineapple Emoji. Chuck is likely to finish third in points on our team, but first in yelling at us on Strava to get out and ride, and first in organizing and leading team rides. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he’s made the competition better for our whole team.

Jon – You are too kind. Thank you!

My vote goes to more yoga, losing the spacers, and a -17 degree, 140mm stem.

So this pretty much describes my set up.

If anyone is in need of a super bright light. Light & Motion apparently produced a bunch of TAZ 1200 (that’s lumens) lights laser etched “800.” So they put a decal over the mis-print and $30 off!

Duly noted. We can always adjust your team’s points if you’re that upset about it. :D

I do not like this at all! I figured they’d be better than this! I’ll take back my vote as captain of team 22. Hopefully, they can make up some ground.

They’ve actually ridden more miles than three other teams. Just shows you how the new scoring system doesn’t necessarily just reward high mileage riding.

got it, thanks for the reply! i track my email pretty closely, but, something must have gone awry. bummer. i’ll be sure to sign up on time next year…

You are on an email to join Team 27. Please do so ASAP and you’ll be playing Freezing Saddles. If you didn’t get the email (I used the email address you used to register), then email me ASAP at the_penas at yahoo dot com. You can PM me here on the forum but I’m not as quick to see/respond to those.

i think i’m still on the wait list, or got lost. i am happy to join any team if there is a gap. if not, no biggie. i’ll make sure to sign up on time next year. thanks, i am sure this was a pain to organize!

You registered and were actually originally assigned to a team. But, for whatever reason, your team captain was not able to make contact with you to join the team’s Strava club to play Freezing Saddles. Knowing that you’re interested, I will add you back to the wait list. If I do form another team (and it’s not a done deal), you (and everyone else) will have to go through the same process as everyone else did to be able to finalize the team for Freezing Saddles.

Adam is having technical difficulties. I have been working with him since the weekend trying to get it resolved. Perhaps some additional one on one tech assistance is required.

Richard and Jon are aware. Will hopefully get sorted over the weekend. Stay tuned.

    Thanks Ken!

Given that I can hardly ever find anything I want on the forum (I was actually looking for the Calvin Ball thread which seems to appear and disappear routinely) and found this instead, I’d prefer meeting on Strava. Unless someone really understands these sites and wants to teach us all about them. I’m even struggling with the Freezing Saddles website and can’t figure out if Hains Point is a pointless prize this year. Do you know?

If there’s a thread, e.g., Calvinball, you want to stay up to date on, you can subscribe to it. Ditto for your team thread. At the top of the thread to to THREAD TOOLS and select SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THREAD from the drop down menu.

Maybe she wasn’t totally MIA when she set up the club, but she is, in fact, totally MIA now. Hopefully everything’s good with her, but she’s left us in a bad spot with respect to competitiveness and also with team admin stuff (non-members need to be booted and the team page set to private).

If she is just riding every day and waiting to upload her rides, then that would be completely awesome and please ignore everything I wrote.

This is getting sorted. Kenneth on your team should be providing details shortly.

Team 6 Captain isn’t communicating so I’m letting you know that we only have 7 members on the leaderboard but 8 in our Strava club. Our missing 8th member, Alejandra Goyenechea, @Bike, is also not communicating. Now when you click on her Strava activities the message “The requested activity could not be found” appears. I’m guessing she’s out so I’m requesting a substitute, if that’s ok? I’m fine with proceeding with 7 but I know there are people on the waiting list who’d like to participate.

Email me directly the_penas at yahoo dot com and I will help you get this sorted.

OK … I admit I’m getting a little tired of posting here. There are a few team captains who don’t have a full roster on the leaderboard and have not been in touch with me at all (I won’t name shame, but you know who you are). At this point, I’m not going to worry about you. You can keep riding with a roster of less than 8 riders. I’ll continue working with those team captains who have contacted me to get their rosters filled out. Once I do, if I have enough people left on the wait list, I’ll try to form another team. And when that happens, anyone with less than 8 is just SOL and my sympathy meter will be pegged below zero.
