Now that there’s a mostly active I-66 Parallel trail I can even bike over there with less danger. After registering and requesting I got a nice email reply:
Hello Chris,
WMATA no longer allows virtual Smart Trip cards to access the bike and ride facilities. You can register a physical Smart Trip card instead. Send me the 20-digit Smart Trip card number on the back of your card (number should begin with 0167) and I will register it.

How is your experience with Swytch after six months?@mdallao 225786 wrote:
I just bought a Swytch kit to convert my hybrid. Super excited. I use my bike more for transportation than exercise these days so it’ll be nice to have some help on those hills.
I feel like a conversion kit is better for me than spending $$ on another bike. Plus, if I just want to use my bike as a regular bike I don’t have to use the battery at all. I think ebikes are great. I wish they were more affordable so more people could enjoy them. I feel like they make biking accessible to more people.

ParticipantSo I live in the area where the “trail” gets a bit odd, just north of Fair Lakes. However, it is still a huge upgrade, and now helps me avoid a car getting over to Centerville as the Trader Joe and USPS post office are close to a spur of the trail.
I’ll post some photos of what I saw. -
