This looks like an older Fluid 1 trainer that has been out of production for awhile. You’re paying a bit more than its worth for the time of the year.
really? wow, I figured that was a great price for a fluid trainer. I got my kinetic for $125, and it’s in great condition. Thanks for bursting my bubble, I thought I’d done well. I almost, for a second, thought I could join the ELITE ranks. It’s ok, Tim, my mommy never approved of me either. Rule #5 little baby boy is what she always told me, rule #5

ParticipantI’m gonna roll down with Proteus by way of Bethesda. So if anyone wants a REALLY long ride from Bethesda, you can follow me down Sligo Creek, up the Anacostia trail system to Proteus, then back down with the entire group, and probably back up the CCT from Hains Point after.

ParticipantI woke up about 2:00 and felt pretty rested, thinking I had woke up maybe a bit later than 2:00. I was excited about riding in! Looked at my phone, 2:00. Damnit. Took me forever to get back to sleep. Woke up again at 3:30 with my back hurting, made the mistake of taking something for it. Something that can severely depress respiration (I already have “severe obstructive sleep apnea”). Spent the next 2 hours in fitful twilight sleep, filled with nightmares about the devil, Jesus, praying (haven’t been to church in years, don’t hate). Woke up at 6:30, realizing I overslept too much to bike in, thought maybe I’d drive to Proteus, park there, bike to work, then bike back to Proteus in the evening for Yoga. Didn’t. Hating this thread more and more every day.

cycleops fluid trainer with wheel riser and mat, $135!! I picked up a Kurt Kinetic a few weeks ago (with wheel riser) and it’s in great shape. It’s been nice to get some mileage in during the week since my desire to commute has been muzzled by my laziness and health. That one above is a great deal on a fluid trainer (the best kind)

I kind-of decided that cat-food-eneuring was a bit too outside the box to officially enter…. but I will write it up. I just haven’t had time yet. I have another entry to do first.
I love your entry!!! Thanks Liz.
I hate it when my cat goes outside the box

ParticipantProteus posted up a “group ride” down to HP to cheer you on and possibly join you for a few laps. See you there!

ParticipantI’m not quite sure what OP is looking for, track bike? road bike? I just thought I’d throw my $0.02 in case OP is looking for a steel road bike. I absolutely LOVE my Jamis Bosanova. The ride is smooth! I like riding my aluminum Trek if I’m going on a fast (for me) ride on reasonably smooth paths or roads, but if I’m going to commute or ride on rough surfaces, my Jamis is fantastic for it.
It’s a mid-level commuting bike primarily. Jamis has a few other steel bikes, as mentioned above, as well as many other manufacturers. It seems to me that steel has had a bit of resurgence. It had been about 10 years between when I rode last, and starting back up this year, but I found that there are lots of nice steel options out there.

I liked it when the pack of crashed riders exploded in flames.
Actually that is a really good video.
Definitely some useful information in there, despite my inappropriate laughing at every crash illustration.

Glad I posted that, then! WABA does quite a bit of work in MoCo, and is MoCo is ably represented on our board by a number of MoCo residents. You might also find the document we debuted at the Regional Call to Action Summit worth a read. As a WABA member, you should be getting MoCo-specific action alerts when issues needing a bit of public support arise. Happy to chat more about this.
I do get those, and read the newsletters and other emailings that come out. I was impressed with the work that was done to convince MoCo to fill the bike coordinator position. I’ll look over the call to action, and keep the MoCo tag bookmarked. I’m happy to help where help is needed, so I’m happy to chat about it too. Is there someone specifically in charge of MoCo “stuff” I should contact?

ParticipantI was really excited to bike in this morning. Had the tires all pumped up and everything ready for my hour-earlier-to-cycle wake time. I slept like CRAP last night
I grew up as a “rub some dirt on it” type of kid, out in the country, amazing parents, etc etc. The suspicion that my doctor has is that I’m having “mini panic attacks” at night. I wake up gasping for air with my heart racing. I know it’s not apnea, because I was diagnosed with that YEARS ago, and wear one of this silly masks, so it can’t be apnea. Night before last was my first night on Xanax, and….. OMG what a great night of sleep!!! So I was really looking forward to another awesome night of sleep last night, waking up nice and refreshed at 0:dark:30 and FINALLY getting a ride in (it has been weeks
). Sadly, it didn’t work out. I guess I’m adjusting to not taking Lunesta to sleep, which was what I was on before the Xanax now. It really sucks to get about 8+ hours of sleep and still not feel refreshed
Anyways, that’s all in the TMI category. I know most people would never share personal medical information, but I’ve learned so much about arthritis, sleep apnea, and other problems I’ve had that I feel compelled to share what I’ve learned. I know I’ve changed a few people’s lives by openly talking about my ailments and what treatments I’ve used. Arthritis and sleep apnea are both considered “silent diseases” (and apnea is quite lethal), so I always feel the need to encourage communication about them. Did you know that the CDC considers sleep disorders to be an epidemic!! Arthritis statistics aren’t any better. Unfortunately, both of these things can directly interfere with cycling, which turns in to a vicious cycle because cycling actually helps both of these things.

Just a small point of order, FWIW –
Interesting. A very important point of order to me, actually. I know bikeMD is more Baltimore oriented, but wasn’t really aware that WABA was that deeply involved with MoCo. Being as I’m already a WABA member, this is excellent news. I’d like to hear more about how I can help advocacy in my county.
