I drove my car today and find out that percentile of stupid cyclist on trails is much less stupid drivers on the road.

This doesn’t mean you should stop calling passes in your car!

BUGGER! I just lost my 80’s music trivia title.. I stand corrected and slightly ashamed.

now you must purchase and wear a kit based on this jersey and ride around for a day holding a sign that says “please give me my 80s street cred back!”

Would a DC, Fairfax, or [shudder] Maryland member like to step in and explain?

Hi! Evil infested and infected Marylander here. Bike Arlington, to me, is Bike Arlington. As in ‘bikearlington.com’. It has probably been that way for a long time. It will probably stay that way for a long time. I have no idea, but I’d guess somewhere along the way WABA said “you’ve got an active forum, can we piggy-back?” and Bike Arlington (being so gracious! thanks!) Said “sure!”. There are other “bike forums” and lists (shudder, potomac peddlers page is horrible, which is why I settled on Bike Arlington) but none are quite as nicely laid out and active, seemingly, as Bike Arlington. Sure, there’s Bike Forums.net and stuff like that, but I honestly like the local camaraderie we have here. Personally, it doesn’t matter to me what it’s called, it’s a great place to find local resources and make community ties to the DC cycling population. Short of someone creating or renaming the entire thing to “BikeDCregion.com” or something, this will always be Bike Arlington. I’m OK with that, and most people probably aren’t bothered by it. So, what is wrong with the current Bike Arlington jerseys? NOTHING. I’m going to go down and pick one up from one of the 2 places that sells them (hopefully soon).

Also, for me, wearing a Bike Arlington jersey is as much about promoting this community as it is about identifying friends on the trail… which the meet-ups kind of accomplish anyways. So really it’s more about getting people to come here.

oh, and if you want something more “regional friendly”, WABA does have some very fancy jerseys!

I rummaged around bikearlington.com for a bit trying to find the jersey order page… no luck. Anyone have a link?

I really had a great time at cap city brewery, and the food/beer was really good too! Unfortunately, my commute has changed and that’s way out of my way. I know the majority of the active people here are the Arlington-ish area, but it would be nice if at least once a month there was something in DC area. Georgetown, CapHill, etc, would be close enough for me to go to. Columbia Heights would be nice for those of us who are in Maryland or northern DC-ish areas, but not sure if we have enough. There’s honestly no way that each location is going to be convenient for everyone, so “area focused” locations might work best. It seems like it breaks down in to the Arlington-ish area, the Georgetown area, then a bit more north area folks. Maybe a google map showing our “convenience zones” would help?

Yeah, and in looking around the web, I’ve found a LOT of great information out there. Pretty much all the questions are answered, so maybe something like just a list of links might suffice.

So, yeah, searched this up and I know it’s a few months old, but I’m sort of an IT guy (16+ years). I’ve got quite a bit of experience with wikis and stuff, so I’d really like to get this going :)
