ParticipantSounds like someone should post this on the “real” Missed Connections on Craigslist, maybe the fool or someone he knows will see it. Not that he’d maybe care if he was being so reckless that he didn’t care if he killed an old lady, but he should still be called out.

Participantdefinitely a missed connection! Glad it all turned out OK. This is why I’m strongly considering those spikey knives attached to my hubs, Mad Max style.

Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

ParticipantGreat deal for someone! The large ones are absolutely MASSIVE inside, I’d be on this if I didn’t already have one.
Just bumping this in case not everyone realizes how good of a deal this is

Drugs. I think some of you have seen my profile page where I list my MRI findings. Things have gotten slowly worse over the years, and continue to do so. I use a variety of methods, or “tools” in my toolbox, to attack the chronic pain and try to manage it. It’s not always easy. Then comes along the policy makers who are trying to take away one of the most effective tools in my arsenal. There are times when everything else has failed; radio frequency nerve ablation (RFA, destruction of nerves), exercise, stretching, physical therapy, cortisone shots, etc, and the only thing left that actually is about 100% is the miracle of pharmacology. I’ve been on every hydro/oxy-codone/morphone possible, all kinds of nerve pain drugs (fibromyalgia type things, despite not having fibromyalgia), all the way up to fentanyl patches (usually reserved for cancer patients). I can honestly say that if I couldn’t get that ultimate relief from the pain through drugs as a last ditch effort, I’d hang myself.

sorry, just have seen so much action against drugs lately and I can’t understand why people are trying to take away what legitimately is a life saving med for so many people. I get that there is a lot of abuse out there, but not all of us drug users are drug addicts. By the way, currently drug free because of my cycling and RFA procedures.

I would never objectify a cyclist based on their size. That would be wrong. They are all beautiful.
Speaking as a woman who appreciates men, any male cyclist on his bike who is smiling and happy is a great looking man.
I’m going to set my trainer up outside your house and smile, it should be very good for my self esteem!

ParticipantHere’s the latest on the Miyata. I’ve got it all set for commuting, mostly. I do need to upgrade the bars (way too narrow), and I decided to go with aero brake levers, bar end shifters. Eventually maybe some nice velo orange hammered fenders and some other shiny accoutrements

oh, and that’s the Selle An-atomica Titanico X (X is for X-tra heavy people like me) and it. is. an. amazing. saddle!

ParticipantUnfortunately, I don’t think a helmet would have helped this poor soul. From a first hand witness who wrote about it, the cyclist was crushed by the bus tires in the middle

ParticipantI enjoyed the get together there so much last time that I won’t miss this one! Even though now that I work in Bowie this is WAAAAAY out of my way. Good thing I have an ecotec engine! (2 actually, but one has a few more HP)

ParticipantIs that one of THE Trek 520’s on page 10? I’ve heard they’re some of the best touring bikes ever made…

Well then sorry for wasting everyone’s time. And FYI, if you feel the need to just insult and talk down to someone, rather than provide constructive feedback, you’re more than welcome to not say anything.
I, too, have only been on this forum for a short time. I’ve come to see that the cyclists here are far from the average cyclist. They’re responsible ambassadors of the community. Your first post was seething with anger, venom, and disdain for “all cyclists”.
—>>> Some Bicyclists Make All Bicyclists Look Bad <---- Now your latest post is additionally hostile. I’m not sure how you expect this community to respond. I also am not sure if you’re pointing the finger in the right direction concerning “insult and talk down to someone”.

Anyway – I am seeing a pattern here, thanks for helping me wise up.
I hope the pattern isn’t that you think you’re “dumb”! It’s not dumb, just not aware of the risks, laws, or social repercussions of running in cycle-tracks. I’m sure you’re FAR from the only one, and one of the reasons this forum is so great is that people are “gently educated” about cycling related issues (or anything people post, really).
