ParticipantNo, clearly the MD one is better, it says “BKE” down the side. The E at the bottom is the start of the customized one I’m going to try and get. The remaining letters are “LITE”.

ParticipantAppears to have been an ad in magazines and (maybe) online too for the s-works Demo

ParticipantAn interesting take on the Strava lawsuit
http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/06/28/use-strava-get-sued/
Quote:if you do something and Strava gets sued as a result, you agree to not only pay Strava’s legal fees…you also pay any judgment entered against them.actually, it’s scary if you think about. I’d hope it would never happen, but the language is there in the T.O.S.

ParticipantOK, just for fun, I stitched together my rides for the day LOL (thanks Kathy for the suggestion)
http://runkeeper.com/user/certifried/activity/110467394
I had to use Runkeeper so it wouldn’t screw up my Strava, especially since the route makes jumps where I catch a bus from New Carrollton Metro to Bowie, then back. And the Metro ride from Metro Center to Medical Center, so it wasn’t a 70 mile day, more like a 55. Definitely worth it for cheap beer, delicious wings, and awesome friends (not sure the adjectives are in the right places there)

And as far as passing little kids goes, I slow way down and talk them through it — “Keep going straight just like you are. I’m going to pass you.” Then “Great job!” if they hold their line. The smiles they give after that are definitely worth the slowing down.
^^ THIS! is awesome! I’ve been 1/2 doing that, but need to start doing it more. I always ring my bell and let them know I’m passing, and try to encourage them or give them a thumbs up. The younger kids really don’t know the difference between Lance Armstrong and myself (hey, let me have my fantasy) so they really get excited when “big bikes” give them encouragement or even acknowledge them. It really gets them excited about what they’re doing, maybe even creating memories and a love of cycling for life. All it really takes is slowing down (which everyone should be doing around kids on trails anyway!) and a few encouraging words, awesome idea!

ParticipantI was going to complain that this isn’t a bike-related picture. Then I realized it is.

Participantoh, just a quick “good will” story. At the point where 4-mile run and Shirlington road crosses, where I came out to ride up the block to Cap City was a gentleman with a flat. Oddly enough, he had just purchased the bike from REI and apparently they had serviced it. Well, they serviced the valve-stem right out of the back tire! I have no idea how he got where he did, unless it worked itself loose. I ended up gifting him my spare tube and changing it for him too. It would’ve been a good “teachable” moment, but I was already a bit after 6, and was antsy for a beer (1 beer, 1 beer only)…..(ok, it was two beers)…. so I only was 1/2 good samaritan. Hopefully he’ll learn how for the next time! I did point him to Bike Arlington, so hopefully he’ll pop in and get some good tips and pointers. (Hi Malcom, if you do!)

Participantthank you, Kathy, for another awesome happy hour!!!!!!!1111
seriously, that was a great time. I was worried no one would be there when I was planning on arriving, but there was still a 1/2 full group even when I finally left at 8! The prices and service at Cap City is awesome, that was well worth the ~20 mile ride down for it 😎
FYI, I ended up taking 1/8ths suggestion and biked to Metro Center. The knee wasn’t in the game for the ride back to Bethesda

I was thinking the same sort of thing. Except putting the note inside the seat tube. If it was rolled tight enough, the note would fall back out easily if the bike was turned over. Also protects against losing your note if they swap bars… but if they swap seatpost/saddle like the thief had done, this trick might not have worked either.
You could just paint your entire bike pink. When it comes time to recover your bike, wear all pink. No one will question you.
