You’re getting in deep! I find that this site goes best with a heavy red wine on a rainy weekend evening.
What doesn’t go best with a heavy red wine?!

ParticipantSo, I need to bike more. I took my rear wheel in to Proteus to have it trued. I’d hit a bump a bit hard and the wheel was a little wobbly, but not so bad it interfered with my ride at the time. I even biked home later that evening, after the Proteus pot luck. Well, I finally got around to taking the wheel in for repair. I had purchased a truing stand, spoke wrench, and tensiometer, but decided to let the Pros fix it this time due to finding a broken spoke. Good thing too! I heard back that 5 spokes were broken…. OK, I admit I’m a bit hefty (215ish), but 5?! The wheel is going back to Jamis for a warranty repair. Not a chance on that 60 hour Strava challenge
(not that I had a chance even with a healthy bike lol)

ParticipantI have a Bontrager “commuting stormshell“. While I like the design, vents, visibility, and comfort of the jacket, I have a LOT of trouble with the front zipper. It’s a double zipper, one of those you can unzip from the bottom, and I have serious trouble every single time I want to zip it up.

I do enjoy reading the site, as they do at least have a fine appreciation for cycle racing, specifically the 80’s era. I do agree most of it is tongue-in-cheek, and there’s no way anyone could seriously adhere to all 91 rules.
Only Eddy can.

ParticipantNot that I had much of a chance in the first place… but getting sick last week really killed it for me. I might’ve been able to get 50%.

ParticipantThose little bento boxes work awesome. That’s what I used for my camera for a while (now I just stuff it in a pocket). The only suggestion I have is to make sure the one you get firmly attaches to the bike. An extra zip-tie or two might be necessary.

ParticipantIf you’re not blasting this song as you drive the herd of hipsters down your local path, you’re not doing it right.

ParticipantThat site is entirely satirical. Mostly. Some of “The Rules” do seem to be a sad acceptance of ELITEism with a warm embrace. After all, if you can’t laugh at yourself…. http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/#5

ParticipantOne option in Strava is to use different equipment. So if you really wanted to calculate commuting miles, you could have 2 of the same bikes listed, just name one “commute”, then you can look at how many miles on that piece of equipment. It’s easy to edit rides to change which bike was used.
