The handlebars or lack of brakes wouldn’t work for me but to each his/her own. You can live without brakes if you just ride fixed, but for me that gets old. Which generally means the fact that it’s a flip-flop hub is about meaningless unless you intend to flintstone all your stops. Attractive bike though I’ll give it that.

Not to mention I look like crap in hipster clothes :)

Is that section of Wilson heading downhill to Lynn still milled leaving a washboard surface?

No, it’s freshly paved and striped a week or so ago. Then they dug it up and put steel plates in :)

Be aware the bike lane if headed down the hill still dies into nowhere only now further down.

That’s my indicator that they’re not done and there’s another layer of asphalt planned. Or not. :)

Hey, still better than the ramp on the old bridge. The trail alignment though to me looks like a done deal and that whole dogleg stays.

So, did you take the new bike out and buy him drinks and attempt to take advantage of him or not?

    You’re absolutely right.

Yeah, but IMHO an eBike increases that exponentially. It’s an easy way for a rider that doesn’t have the skill level to travel at a speed where they really should have it. I’ll grant that does indeed apply to some non eBike riders but you generally have to have a bit of experience to travel at those speeds and with that does come at least some knowledge.

I’m of the mindset to have at them on the streets..to stay off the trails where they’re questionably legal and will do a lot to give “real” cyclists a bad name in the wrong hands. Not like we can’t do that on our own without a battery.. But for the cost to run one on the street just buy a scooter. They are however starting to get dumped at price points approaching that of an entry level road bike.

The barrels are actually painfully bright with 1000 lumens or so shining at them :)

It does have a fresh, bright an lovely yellow line down the middle of the trail to help you see. I’ll bet it’s not reflective though. Maybe a few reflective strips should be added to that black fence?

BTW, that line is reflective. As are the barrels.

Shame is that statement would be kinda funny if it weren’t so durned true!

I have a thought on e-bikes. Namely, that they, just like gas-powered mopeds or any other motorized vehicle, do not belong on the trails.
It’s already dangerous enough with people who occasionally outstrip their skill-level and commonsense on downhills. No need to exacerbate things.

They’re already not allowed on the W&OD. “No motorized vehicles” applies to them also.

Personal opinion is that if you’re too farking lazy to pedal that you need an eBike then Metro is the thing for you.

The initial proposals may lead to congestion on the connector between Ballston and the Custis Trail by putting interpretation areas directly on the trail, with roundabouts to boot. Interested parties may wish to comment.

Interesting. This mean it won’t smell like an open sewer on hot days?

They going to import some beavers?

Oh, this can just go soooo wrong now…..
