Hello Busters,
jeremy will not be playing this year due to a family medical situation. I sent a note to Sunyata to provide a replacement player. Hopefully there is one.
I have noted that we are “leading” the sleaze rides team leaderboard. What I mean by “leading” is that we actually have the fewest sleaze rides as a team, just 2 total.
However, we are also low on the Ride Days leaderboard, so maybe we should bump up our sleaze rides to take advantage of the 10-point daily bonus.
I will be at Mike’s Deli in the morning for Monday Pancake Club. There are some other rides happening tomorrow; check the calendar on the Freezing Saddles web site for infiltration opportunities.
And keep busting those bollards!!!
Thanks for the update! I too was planning on hitting Mikes Deli tomorrow! See you there!!

Hello Team!
Hi, I’m Tom and this is my second year of FS. I’ve been commuting to work for about 6 years now out here in Western Fairfax Co. I’m not really big on miles but I’m not perturbed by weather, either. Since I signed up for FS I am no longer employed, so that will change some things (crossing fingers that next job is bike commute-able). I’ll do my best to get out there. I rarely make it into DC for events (which reminds me we should figure out our geographic team center for meeting up) and Green Lizard is my closest bike shop.
I’m also active with FABB if you have any advocacy questions.
If anyone knows of any Product Management jobs, let me know! Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom! I lov Green Lizard and will be happy to do a ride out that way! Vienna is also a good spot!

Hi teammates,
A few of you know me, and the rest of you don’t.
I’m Steve O, and I am captain of this illustrious team. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in person.
I live close to the EFC Metro almost on the line between Arlington and Falls Church. I commute every day by bicycle and use my bike as my main mode of (local) transportation.
I often attend Friday Coffee Club II at Java Shack and occasionally show up at the others. During FS off-season I organize Midnight Saddles rides and other social events with my bike riding friends.
This is my 5th year playing Freezing Saddles. The Bike Arlington scarf I received at the end of the first season has shrunk to 60% of its original length.See you out there!
Hello! My name is Chris and this is my 2nd year in freezing saddles (I was on the #1 team last year!) I live at Skyline off of Leesburg Pike and commute to work every day.
I’m so excited about this years competition, mainly because I have conquered navigating the Forum!!!
I am a coffee club enthusiast…making it to 3 CC regularly and sometimes 5 CC per week!
Looking forward to meeting all of you soon! And if anyone wants to join any coffee club let me know and I will ride with you!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Registration has officially ended. If you registered, please be sure to do steps 2-4 to make it onto a team:1) Submit registration form here: http://freezingsaddles.x10host.com/ This puts you on the list to be assigned to a team. Registration is now closed and teams have been assigned. If you didn’t register on time, you can still fill out the form for late registration. Late people might be added to teams if not everyone who registered joins their team, or there might be some sort of addition to trailing teams later in the game. We haven’t really decided.
2) Authorize scoring app here: http://freezingsaddles.com/authorize This gives permission to our leaderboard app to read your strava data.
3) Join the Freezing Saddles Strava Club here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/170309 This is where the leaderboard app will look for players.
Note: The leaderboard is recording rides. If you have done both step 2) and step 3), you (and your rides) should be showing up on it. If you are not, double check to make sure you are part of the strava club, and try reauthorizing the leaderboard. (It only updates every hour(?) or so, so don’t panic if your ride doesn’t show up immediately.)
4) Team assignments are complete and will be announced at January 7 happy hour (and then posted on the forum later that night or the next day). You will need find out what team you’re on, and join the new Strava club that someone on your team will create. (These new strava teams will then be pulled into the leaderboard to automatically group team members and add up team scores. So actual people don’t have to do math.)

General Description of game play and rules:
Disclaimer: I am not in charge of the rules. This is based on my memory from last year and is subject to change due to my memory being wrong or the group deciding to change something this year. Don’t assume it’s set it stone, it’s just here so new people have a good sense of what they’re getting into. (edit Jan 1: However, they’ve been posted here awhile now and no one has argued about or questioned them, which probably makes them about as close to official as anything in this game ever gets.)Rules:
1) Scoring: You earn 10 points each day that you ride (one mile minimum to count for your daily points– this is per day, not per ride: two half mile rides gets you your 10 points). You earn an additional one point for every mile.
The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
2) Game runs 00:00:01am January 1 through 23:59:59 pm March 19 (is that the last day of winter?). Yes, even if teams aren’t announced until January 7. All rides starting from January 1 on count.
3) Trainer rides don’t count. Mark your rides as such or include #NOBAFS in the title to exclude them. Take your bike outside and ride it some distance across the surface of the earth in order to earn points.
4) Rides made while travelling out of the area do count. On vacation somewhere warm? Lucky you! Find a bike and ride it for some points. Somewhere extra cold? sososorry. Find a bike and ride it for some points!
5) Rides made on E-assist (but not solely electric/motor powered) bikes do count. Also rides made on vaguely bike-like human-powered vehicles. See here: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?9655-eBikes-and-electric-powered-vehicles-(including-the-Elf)&p=130090#post130090
6) Anyone can award a Pointless Prize for anything. Go check out the thread for what people are offering, and feel free to join in and award something yourself. (these are typically small fun or cute or symbolic things, not high dollar prizes or anything. But whatever you want! No one will probably argue about you throwing money or new bikes at them if you so desire.)
General Description of game play, details of data collection, etc
1) We divide people into teams of 9-10 people. Each team is a mix of riders who typically ride enough to qualify as insane, people who ride regularly but like sane people, people who ride occasionally, and people who have never ridden through a winter before. An attempt is made to keep the mix roughly comparable for all the teams so they are approximately evenly matched. If you don’t ride much, that is not just ok but an essential part of the game: all the teams need “don’t ride so much” people along with “ride lots and lots” people, so if not you, it’ll just be someone else. Come play!
2) Visit the pointless prize thread and others in the freezing saddles subforum to see what pointless prizes, side bets, and other random games are being played. I am not going to try to keep up with links to every possible FS-related thread here to keep it from getting too complicated, but there is a lot of optional game-play and socializing you can participate in. You may want to link Instagram and #BAFS2016 your pics, or #kidical rides with kids. The leaderboard also collects cool data like weather, elevation, time in saddle, so when it is ready, spend some time poking around there if you haven’t.
