Ok, signed up, paid, a proud new WABA member and soon-to-be Vasa rider.
Doing the long route. Will be closely following Rod to make sure he is doing ok at the end of the peloton. Waiting for the opportunity to attack from the back, as it were.
I look forward to meeting the mythical Powerful Peter, as Rod and his trailer are easy to spot[emoji4]

ParticipantI slept in this AM after SteveO keep me out late last night drinking beers, but I thwarted his conspiracy this morning to knock me and my BAFS Team 5 from the hunt in the leaderboard standings by taking in the long commute WOD -> 4MR -> MVT -> 14th Street Bridge -> HP laps -> 15th Street bike Lane uptown -> M Street bike Lane X-town. I did go back to dressing in 3 layers on my torso, leg warmers, and covers for my toes and helmet, as it was chilly.

This is my basic idea for the 19th.
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7086349I’m interested to join you but do not have the bike necessary for riding on the muddy C&O canal. Any chance that we could stick to paved roads?
@Raymo853 110999 wrote:I am still hoping do do this ride, but work is throwing monkey wrenches at me. I may not be able to take the 19th off because of a sliding schedule on a application release.
If work does not cause problems, my plan is still the same. Would want to start around 8:00 at the beginning of the WO&D by Shirlington Rd & S Four Mile Run Road. Could meet there or maybe Best Buns.

ParticipantTwice, both on my roadie w/ slicks. The first one was in GTown on M Street during PM rush hour after a big snow fall. A big SUV cut me off leaving me no escape. So I dumped the bike into an icy snow bank. Still have the scabs from that one.
The second one was on the WOD snowfield under the Rt 50 overpass. I was going through it too slow and when I torqued the crank, the back tire went out from underneath me, and I went down, more embarrassed than anything else. But since there were no witnesses, does it count?Boomer Cycles
ParticipantThe inevitable flat tire on tonight’s ride. Interestingly, the person who stopped first to help me was a runner, as the cyclists all whizzed by, except for the one who gave me a shot from his CO2 cartridge.

ParticipantCount me “in,” especially for the pre-ride, sacramental pancakes.

We will be enjoying the Acme Pie Co. pie!
This is a disorganized, unsupported ride, brought to you by the same people who brought you Freezing Saddles. Ride at your own risk. Follow any route. Join at any point. Leave at any point. It’s up to you. The most important this is: enjoy some pie
Will you be serving sacramental pancakes at Bikenetic?

This morning my butt found a connection with the ice on the WOD adjacent to the tennis courts just past Shreve.
You should’ve stuck to my single-track that I chipped out of that ice sheet for @Dkel benefit[emoji4]

Ciao Boomer, considering joining you guys to prove that I do, in fact exist.
Have yet to sign up though. Do you happen to have a link to an actual map of the ride?
A bit nervous that this might not entail HP loops… [emoji14]
Another chance for a confirmed sighting?! Not at HP?? Here’s the registration link for the VASA ride; please note that this is a WABA members only ride, so join WABA before trying to register if you haven’t done so already. http://www.waba.org/events/rides/vasa-ride/

ParticipantDid I pass DKel in the dark rainy fog tonight just before 10pm by the Poplar Heights tennis courts on the WOD. And does he ride with a blue tail light???

ParticipantI’m in with SteveO for the 59 miler. Anyone interested to convoy with us from the WOD-Custis Junction to the House of Sweden?
Boomer Cycles
ParticipantI signed up for the full 59 miler. This will be my 3rd Vasa ride. Anyone know if WABA needs anymore marshalls? And yes, I’m crashing your thread cuz can’t let your team swamp the leaderboard uncontested [emoji4]

Hey! You guys are stalking me! I live just around the corner and climb that lovely little hill first thing every morning on my commute to work. Nice isn’t it? It does get the blood flowing…
My stalking has yet to provide a confirmed sighting. I think that you may be a myth.
