I left Crystal City at about 4:15 and took those trails home. No impact on my commute.

Does anyone know the protocol for switching registration from one pitstop location to a different one?

Some people will be counting pedestrians Thursday evening so I am a +1 for New District on Friday instead, and I’m a +1 for New District on Thursdays in general, otherwise.

Should it go on Steve O’s new and improved calendar? What are the details?

You don’t need the presta nut.

Nope, you can remove the nuts and save a couple of grams for a much faster commute! Unless you’re running tubeless, then definitely don’t remove them.

I don’t bin my presta nuts though. They can be useful to temporarily keep everything aligned and secure when installing a replacement inner tube in the field. They also make nice bottle cage spacers if your cage can’t install flush against the frame.

I was wondering if anybody ever rides the wrong way on a bike lane.

It would be a test of my patience for sure if encountered another cyclist barreling head on towards me in a bike lane. Might need to start carrying another “tool” if this becomes a widespread “thing”

This happens more often than I’d prefer, especially on the two lane 15th St cycle track. And last night I was riding up 29 from DC. Nearing Spout Run there was another cyclist salmoning in the bike lane heading directly toward me. After dark. I kept checking over my shoulder to see if I could take the lane, but cars were there and continued to pass me. Luckily said salmon finally detoured to the sidewalk. Good times!

What is our mission statement? Shred the gnar and gleam the cube? Get Judd to build up his Ti frame posthaste?

What a lovely ride tonight! I can only hope next Wed will be as perfect. Too bad the Splinter Cell never crossed paths with the official L!G!A! group.

Also, Ricky did not see the posted signs and flouted the law:

I don’t know about the wizard bike, but the 13-14k part is true. I’m on my fourth or fifth chain, but still using the original cassette and chainrings. A couple of contributing factors:

    — At least half of that distance is my commute, which is so flat that I usually don’t bother to shift gears.
    — I’m a teensy-weensy bit compulsive about cleaning my chain. The chain generally gets cleaned and relubed after 200 miles or every rainy ride, whichever comes first.

I used to use a chain cleaner every couple hundred miles or so, but eased up on that compulsion and save it for when I can still “hear” my dirty chain after a more pedestrian cleaning. Now my cleaning routine is to check my chain, cassette and jockey wheel for obvious crud and give those a good brush and wipe. I picked up a pack of gear floss and it’s great for getting caked-on grime off of a cassette (https://smile.amazon.com/Finish-Line-Microfiber-Cleaning-microfiber/dp/B004JKK75A).

I agree about wiping the chain down and relubing after a wet day. It’s amazing how quickly surface rust can form on a chain that’s been through a day of rain.

Yes BUT can you tell me how to get to that park from Key Bridge? Seriously, I avoid Georgetown 98% of the time (in all forms of transit). I’ll take M street in the winter when I go in early and can pass through around 6:15 am to avoid the glare of oncoming cars along Roosevelt Island (old people eyes).

BTW, if I do go that means I have to take 41st St on the way home. I already hate all of you.

Google walking directions sort of show what I’m talking about. Basically avoids M St entirely.

I have ZERO desire to (a) take the key bridge and then (b) bike down M street during rush hour. So, nope.

Although this did make me clean my gravel bike’s drivetrain after Saturday’s rainy gravel ride.

You could probably just sneak down 34th and cross the footbridge to the beginning of the C&O and stalk/catch the group there. Can anyone confirm if LGA passes through there?

Also, it sounds like your bike is too clean.

You gonna start with them at District Cycle Works? I’d love to come out but I have a late meeting. If I get out in time, I’m going to try to make it also.

Things are looking good for my making this too.

I think Judd does need a new CX weapon. ;)

I’m curious about those unbranded rims though. What are they?

Yup. Anyone younger than me is an a-hole. I don’t make the rules. That’s just how it is.

Still not clear on when I can start calling people youngblood though.

That would be awesome if you decide to resurrect it. I restored a cached copy from a backup to see if I could get a salvageable .ics file to seed a new calendar. Unfortunately there’s a lot of inconsistency regarding repeating events and arbitrary end dates that it’s probably easiest just to start with Steve O’s updated coffee club list. Let me know if you want the file anyway.
