1/23/21 – Pie
Enjoying a mini banana cream pie from Pie Sisters in Georgetown. Every year they always sell out of pies for Pi Day but apparently not for Pie Day!

ParticipantBranching out to Arlington, the polka dot mural on the wall of Continental Lounge. This one is sort of interesting in that it was commissioned by the developer rather than an art commission. It makes for a colorful wall!

ParticipantThe Smithsonian Natural History Museum, the site of many school field trips! Has a great collection of all sorts of things to do with natural history including animals, minerals, early human civilization, and dinosaurs. A good place to learn about evolution!

Participant1/20/21 – Presidents
There are multiple Presidents after Roosevelt in this mural. [emoji6] Unfortunately no names listed so I found a walking tour sign about one of Kennedy’s residences.

ParticipantDiscovered that there are two murals in Ben Ali Way, the alley next to Ben’s Chili Bowl. The first one is the famous mural of 16 African American figures including Prince. New to me is “Kindred” on the V St side. It’s not normally visible biking since V St is one way going East and the mural is on the west side of the building.

ParticipantHere’s another street sign. This one is of Euclid in DC to acknowledge the Greek mathematician that according to Wikipedia is sometimes known as “founder of geometry.” We probably all had to learn geometry in high school or college!

#HeroesWorkHere at The Kensington Falls Church Assisted Living. My MIL lives here and I know how hard the employees have been working to keep the residents and themselves safe. Family members have not been allowed in the building except for extraordinary circumstances (eg., end of life) since last March.
