ParticipantThe National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine building in Chinatown. Apparently the National Academy of Sciences was formed first and then later Engineering and then Medicine to provide objective policy advice. This building houses the National Academies Press bookstore for all three Academies on the right and also has sphere on top which I think represents GPS or satellites circling the globe.

ParticipantA belated mural for Presidents Day! I thought this mural at the intersection of the MBT and R St was about Lincoln since the top is what you usually see from a distance but it’s actually to honor the workers that made the monument which you can see when you get up close. Thank you to the workers!

The planets mural along the MBT! Has all the planets in order from Mercury to Uranus but seems to be missing Pluto or maybe it’s wrapped in the tentacle thingy at the end which I didn’t capture.

Can count on a DC cab to be a hybrid! Most of the time they are a Prius but this one is a Rav4.

ParticipantArt restores the soul mural in Adams Morgan. It’s in the same alley by Philz Coffee/One Medical next door to Ratzilla.

I was thinking areas further out may have an advantage for this hunt but surprisingly there were a couple in Dupont and Adams Morgan including this one.

ParticipantThe interim Florida Ave bike lane that goes from H St to Union Market. I believe the plan is to eventually extend north of New York Ave to go all the way to U St. The only confusing thing is that occassionally you have to switch sides from the north side of the street (e.g. by H St) to the south side (e.g., by Union Market) but it’s better than riding without a bike lane!

ParticipantResilience, a new mural at Union Market to uplift the community. They apparently have a website for people to share stories. The colors are definitely uplifting!

ParticipantThe Shop Small mural in DC on the side of Mercedes Bien vintage clothing store in Adams Morgan. There used to be another mural here on the wall that said “if you lived here you would be home… But you would not be able to vote” that was graffitied over. Interestingly American Express commissioned Udofia to paint this replacement for Small Business Sat.

Are you trying to steal my “biggest puddle” finder crown?
Sorry didn’t mean to! Hmm now that you mention, it does seem more like a puddle than a pond so I will withdraw this one.
