Community by Anne Marchand. This is a colorful mural by Westminster playground tucked away near the corner of 9th and T St. It’s supposed to depict the pride the pride and achievements of Shaw from the late 1800’s to present with Ella Fitzgerald singing from the rooftop in the top right and a person on a big wheel bike in the bottom left.

Cat 5: Amsterdam Falafel, the red light district of Adams Morgan. I think they added some new red lights recently so now you can spot it… even further away!

Some of the murals on the barriers in Adams Morgan. I like the one of the new DC flag outside of Tryst.

Adding a new category if you’d like to look for or acknowledge any place related to the production or distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. We are fortunate to be in area with a few vaccine companies like AstraZeneca, Novavax, and Emergent BioSolutions. We also have the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Federal Drug Administration, and John’s Hopkins University that seeded the research, approved the vaccines, and perform the monitoring. There’s probably countless other places. In addition to the heroes or thank you signs, you can visit one of these places, post a photo of the place with your bike, and if you like write a little description about them. You can use the same hashtag #heroesworkhere in Strava. This category is retroactive so if you have already visited the place you may post it here. Happy hunting!

Do national park signs or traffic circles count? Here is the impressive statue of John Logan in Logan Circle who was a Union General and later served in the senate. Much of the sign was obscured today but I think I caught that he was an advocate for veterans and instrumental in creating Memorial Day.

As a backup plan I was thinking of a restaurant menu with moros y cristianos for black beans and white rice. I wonder if they have it on the menu. [emoji57]

You complete me mural, part of the 51st state mural series, in an alley by Buchanan and 14th St.

Not sure if it’s too late for traffic box murals but I found one today at Logan Circle which sort of complemented the earlier mural.

Black Lives Matter Plaza. Trade off between getting the word Black and the White House or the White House sign with a BLM banner next to St John’s Church!
