ParticipantAngel wings at the Embassy Row Hotel in Dupont Circle. This is part of the global angel wings project which was started on 2012 to remind humanity that we are angels on this Earth. And bikes too! I think this was the first one in the area and have seen some other ones popping up since then including one on 14th St at Patty Boom Boom and another in Leesburg at the Delirium Cafe.

3/6/21 – Element Name
Titanium, symbol Ti. It’s highly resistant to corrosion and has the highest strength to density of any metallic element. It’s used in aircraft because of its strength. A good name for the Ford Focus Titanium!

ParticipantThe window drawing on Busboys and Poets at the corner of 14th and V St. There were a lot of window drawings that came out of BLM last year and I thought this one was pretty neat with the colors and patterns.

ParticipantAn electrical substation. Electric grids have been in the news lately. In order to get electricity from the generator to consumers the electricity gets transmitted to substations at high voltages which then gets transformed to a lower voltage for distribution to buildings in the area. You would also want multiple transmission loops and substations for redundancy in case one goes down. This is the Champlain substation in Adams Morgan which is apparently 110 years old! The equipment looks newer and has probably been upgraded over the years whereas the building is likely older.

ParticipantThomas Circle named after Gen George Henry Thomas. He fought for the Union despite being his Virginia heritage. He is known for “defense at the Battle of Chickamauga in 1863 saved the Union Army from being completely routed” and “one of the most decisive victories of the war, destroying the army of Confederate General John Bell Hood, his former student at West Point, at the Battle of Nashville.” (Wikipedia)

Yes, this statue of Gen. Logan counts as a Civil War Marker. If you had photographed the street sign “Logan Circle,” that would count as a Civil War Street.
Thanks, will proceed with more circles and squares!
I went back to photo the Logan Circle street sign, named after Gen John Logan who was commander of the Army of Tennessee during the Civil War. Some fun facts from Wikipedia was that this was originally Iowa Circle before it was renamed and after the Civil War when he was a Rep and Senator for Illinois he lived at this circle!

ParticipantI think they recently installed this bike repair station when they renovated this part of the MBT for the new Alethia Park by Q St. It’s also a nice park with lots of open area and a nice entrance to the MBT going eastbound. Handy to know in case you ever need to look for tools or need to pump your tire!

ParticipantThe unity mural in Adams Morgan. This is one of the older murals in DC and was painted as a youth project. At the time it was painted there was an influx of Latinos and this mural tried to capture all the different groups in the neighborhood. I like the Aztec dragon in the middle.

3/4/21 – Bowling Alley
Pinstripes in Georgetown. Not sure if they open for bowling but they are open for food and drinks for a “strikingly good time.”

This is from a ride I did last month… is this what you mean?
Yes! I wasn’t sure if GSK worked on a COVID19 vaccine but they seem to make other ones.

ParticipantAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science. According to Wikipedia it is the world’s largest general scientific society. I didn’t realize that it is the publisher of the scientific journal Science and is located in DC, on New York Ave.

Need some LSAT books? This particular free library often has text books and books in foreign languages.
