    Yes they are. Just checked my commute this morning and hidden efforts showed Arloopccw’s 1-5 as it should.

    Just checking that 1-5 is a typo, and you meant 1-8.

    The Jogger’s Soliloquy (recited to me as I passed her, after ringing my bell, on the Custis near the Bridge to Nowhere):

    “Why do you ring your bell when I am clearly in the right lane…(inaudible due to distance)”

    Well, 3 reasons:

    1. My bell is a friendly and courteous warning that you are about to be passed by a bike (I had just lubed the chain so it was extra quiet today);
    2. Sometimes joggers change lanes or turn around without looking back, so I wanted you to know you shouldn’t do that;
    3. Trail rules require a warning be issued before passing.

    I just wanted to highlight that there might be something wrong with the data pull and/or leaderboard. It’s not displaying any of my CCW loops and the whole counts seem to be low in general.

    I was wondering about that. The leaderboard has all of the loops I’ve done, but does not seem to be picking up others’. Are all 8 segments showing up in your Loop rides?

    How do you post your photos so that they show up on the Freezing Saddles page?

    https://freezingsaddles.org/photos/

    I’ve tried #tagging on Instagram and posting through Strava but don’t see any on there.

    Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere but searching the forum for “photos” returned too many results and I couldn’t find any instructions.

    Thanks!

    Nigel

    I don’t know how the code works, but when I post one picture to my ride right away in Strava, and have photos set as the default display for my rides in Strava feeds, the picture appears on the Freezing Saddles photo page.

    Re-upping this thread because I never really got an answer, and we’re considering this for this weekend. Is there a reasonable way to get from the W&OD to Lost Rhino if we’re biking with kids? Google Maps makes it look like you might be able to come in from behind the brewery and that might not be a terrible route?

    Strava Global Heatmap shows many riders using Smith Switch Station Rd, which becomes Waxpool at the intersection with Farmwell. There is also an industrial park before Smiths Switch you could go through (where Old Ox Brewery is) since Smiths Switch is no wider than it was when it was gravel. Lots of wide non-busy (on a weekend) streets that will get you most of the way to the industrial park containing Lost Rhino. Unfortunately, at least a short jaunt on the Cartopian Thoroughfare of Waxpool is unavoidable.

    And it appears Strava reports distance data at an absurd level of precision.

    It really is absurd given how imprecise GPS tracking is, even with dedicated devices.

    We may be on the verge of discovering a form of Bistromathematics here. Be careful so as not to end up on the far side of the galaxy.

    Not sure what these are, but they sound dangerous, or at least uncomfortable, to do in cold weather.

    I love this change. When I’m riding downhill, I can confidently proceed with the walk sign, without worrying a car will whip a right turn into me (it’s happened). Now cars get to go when cyclists and trail users shouldn’t go. Cars shouldn’t go when trail users get to go. Easy peasy.

    Also, there’s no slip lane. There’s a right turn lane.

    Observed the lights and not just the cars today, and agree this makes sense. My stupid, objection withdrawn.
