I’m injured, again :-(, but this time I won’t be riding soon enough to participate in FS2022. Please cancel my registration. I hope you have a fun season.

Yes! I love how panniers can clip directly to the top of the sides of shopping carts. It also gives me a good idea of the capacity of what I can bring home. If you get a cart big enough, you can just have them clipped on the inside of the cart and not knock over too many apples… I mean, I imagine you’d knock over less stuff ;)

I love doing this at Giant where you can ring up your groceries as you shop and load them straight into the panniers. I have open top market panniers and I use a canvas bag because it allows me to tie the tops closed so nothing falls out and it helps keep the stuff from shifting. It’s also easier to bring my groceries upstairs without bring up the whole panniers. I also have some shaped packing material that exactly fits a dozen eggs and some bubble wrap to keep glass jars from knocking again each other.

I was biking with Nadine and looking out for Benzes because she didn’t know what they looked like. We were in Potomac so there should have been some around but all we were seeing in the way of fancy cars were BMWs and a Tesla. It was very cold, as you all know because you were out too, and I was tying to warm up when I saw one in a driveway on the left. It was black and boring but better to get a photo now and we can keep looking for something more colorful. Cold hands be damned! Nadine was on my left and I didn’t want to hit her so I started yelling that I was going to turn left in front of her. We got a close to the fence next to the driveway as we could and got our photos. Potomac is so boring, we never did find anything more colorful.

Mmmmmm, the Bat Cave seems to be closed. Bummer because we could use Batman right now.

Where am I going to find balloons this time of year, I thought. While taking some photos at the aqueduct remnant in Georgetown I looked over and saw some people we’re having a birthday event and they had balloons!

I want 2 sets of hangtags (one of each date) as well as a gaiter (correct text). Can I order now and prepay for the gaiter or do I need to wait for the gaiter to be delivered to you before I can order one? I want it all in one package when you deliver the gaiter.

Yay! I’ve been looking forward to this for months. I am hoping for an injury free season. Thanks cvcalhoun for getting this year fired up.

I liked the point system last year and the team size was fine. I suggest changing as little as possible from last year given how much of the rest of our lives has changed. I especially want to avoid changes that would require changing the back end so we minimize the work for obscurerichard. Let him reserve his energy for his family and his bicycle.

Where on the trail is this location? Where it says “you are here”?

Peter’s quiet charisma drew me in the first time I met him. I have no doubt he could command any room he wanted, but he didn’t. He was a big man but I never felt threatened. He was so generous with his time and creativity, willing to help solve little problems for walk-ins – like cutting a seat post shim from a Perrier can, or big problems – like weighing everyone’s stuff at th disaster relief trials. I always suspected he had a lot of friends who cared about him and who he cared for. I’ve seen this in the messages on this forum and on Facebook. I was looking forward to getting to know him better, but now that won’t happen. I didn’t know Pete well and I didn’t realize how much I counted on him being part of my life. Then he was sudden
gone without reason or explanation and I am disoriented and very sad.

I agree with jrenault on all points. This is a huge bummer but if I’m canceling everything else I care about it seems stupid not to go all the way. Arlington already has the most coronavirus cases in Virginia. I hope we get together later in the year, perhaps in the fall when we start putting on arm warmers and thinking about cold weather.
