ParticipantDone. There’s one important thing I forgot to add though, so I’m hoping others will: If they really want to determine the comfort levels of cyclists on various routes, their starting point should be the Strava global heatmap. While it generally reflects usage by more experienced cyclists, it could be enormously helpful to them, especially since it reflects actual data. So can someone please add that in their comments?
(I would hope that they know about and are using this already, but after filling out the survey and seeing what routes they thought were somewhat comfortable to ride on, I don’t think that’s the case.)

ParticipantOops – HH is still on Thursday! Kathy – Thanks for pointing out the error, now corrected.
My mind has been a muddle lately. Apologies for any confusion.

ParticipantJust in case the weather is iffy Thursday afternoon – the happy hour is a rain or shine event under a covered patio. A few scattered showers, or even a 5 pm drenching, have never stopped us in the past. Rules 5 and 9 apply.

August 20 at Capital City Brewing Co. in Shirlington starting at 5 p.m. Save the date! As usual, please try to let me know ahead of time if you plan to come so we can save tables outside. All are welcome!
Bumping this up. Can anyone come right around 5 pm to help me save tables? Looking forward to seeing everyone!

ParticipantWABA tweeted that there are now fewer than 100 spots left.

ParticipantI really like that route. Safer areas and easy to bail from if someone needs to leave before the end.

ParticipantI would love to do this but will be out of town this weekend.

This has to be a hoax. My wife and I are moving to Shirlington in September (basically 1 mile from the brewery) and my luck isn’t that good. I’m assuming they’ll open on Dec 2nd, a day after my daughter is born.
Dickie, welcome to the ‘hood!

ParticipantWelcome, Gina! Chris used to stop often for breakfast at Best Buns in Shirlington and a few years ago started a Weds. morning coffee club (Hump Day Coffee Club or HDCC) there. Please always feel welcome to join us there too!

ParticipantYes, please put back the one he had before, and then let him choose his own if he wants to change it. I think he has earned that right with his good humor about this whole thing.

ParticipantConsularrider and Rootchopper – we understand, but we missed you!

ParticipantThanks, Ken. And many thanks to everyone who came and joined us. What a fun evening that was!

ParticipantMany thanks to to all who RSVP’d – that’s a big help and very much appreciated!
If others want to drop by, please feel welcome. We just might not have seating for you if too many people do that.
Also, it would be great if we could recruit some more members for the National Bike Challenge at the happy hour. Our Washington All Stars team was #1 in the country for a time yesterday, but Gainesville resumed its lead today. We’re doing amazingly well for this stage in the Challenge period, even with about 100 fewer riders than Gainesville has!
See you all soon!

ParticipantSorry to be a little out of touch these last couple of days. Tomorrow is looking great! I’m planning to call Cap City with our estimated count later on this evening as the patio is likely to be very popular on such a nice day.
Kitty, GeneralSilver and any other newcomers, I hope you’ll be able to make it! Please let me know or post if you have any questions. And don’t worry if you can’t get there right at 5 pm. We’re usually going pretty strong 6 to 7 pm and beyond.
If anyone else would like to join us (and maybe earn some more points for the NBC!), please let me know as soon as you can. See you all tomorrow!

ParticipantBoomer, that’s a very nice offer, but I’m teleworking tomorrow so won’t be coming from DC. You might get some other takers, though. See you there!
