I’m a first time-er for this ride as well. I be relying on the gpx file and cue sheet.

Oakley makes prescription glasses. Theyand a few other brands have various pro deals for veterans and government employees. They’re definitely worth it if you fall into one of those categories.

So far this thread shows Judd, komo, Amalitza and AF offering to drive people and/or bikes. Kitty and I are requesting rides. LSG is signed up. Others?
I have a rack I can bring that holds 2 comfortably and 3 if necessary (I recently figured out how to transport my bike rack on my bike rack, so I can get it to the rendezvous).

I have to back out. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town this weekend.

This looks like a really nice ride, but I’m already signed up for the civil war century also on the 10th. Between the two I think I’d rather ride this one.

While a little on the heavy side, I’m happy with the Schwalbe Mondial tires for commuting. They’ve advertised as one of their best puncture resistant tires & long-established lasting tires. I’ve read reviews of people claiming 10k miles from a set.

Per the VA DMV website, you can voluntarily file a crash report in VA: VOLUNTARY REPORT OF A CRASH FR 200. I do not know if VA has a time limit in which you must file. Some states do.

Also, after an incident, I’d always call 911 so that no matter what, a record that the incident occurred on the date and time reported is preserved.

I received an email on the 8th confirming my shipping address for a couple of Oi bells I ordered back in April. Hopefully they’ll arrive by the end of the month.

I’m out of town for Indian Head, but doing the Civil War. Thought about doing Backroads, but since I’m attempting the Alpine Loop GF the weekend after I didn’t think a century the weekend before was a good idea.

While I did not wake up early enough to go to HDCC (I have yet to attend, even though it’s close to my morning commute as I ride Beauregard-Walter Reed-W&OD, but I promise before the end of summer that I will go to at least ONE!), I did have a pleasant ride.

I brought my insulated water bottle instead of my normal clear plastic bottle, and about 2.5 hours after having arrived at work, I was surprised to discover that the ice I had put in it before my ride had still not completely melted! Usually, when I use my regular clear plastic bottle, the contents are liquid before I even hit Beauregard/Seminary (about a mile into my commute). I will have to remember to use the insulated bottle more often.

I find insulated water bottles one of those “why didn’t I buy some waaaay earlier” items

Would a hill loop consisting of S Dinwiddie St & S Culpepper St off the northern side of S Walter Reed Dr work? Culpepper is a quiet residential street & Dinwiddie is fairly quiet as well. Both are about a 100ft climb over less than a half mile.
