ParticipantBased on the information provided; one could reasonably infer that going 1mph faster reduced your road rash by 80%

ParticipantI rode it the inaugural year and I’m in no hurry to ride again for many of the same reasons you listed as to why you gave up running organized races

I’m wondering if you slathered the bottom with some sort of glue/adhesive (what works on asphalt?), making them really hard to move, if they would have lasted longer?
Precast concrete planters are the only kind that’ll work in that scenario.

With any other collision on the 14th St Bridge, traffic would be snared for the entire morning. Bike collision? “hey, sorry about that. You ok?” “Yeah, you?” “Yeah, have a good day” “ok you too”. No traffic-magedon.
Sorry about your lunch
Actually….back in 2015 I spent ~45-60 minutes on the 14th St bridge at a standstill due to a headon collision between two cyclists at the midpoint of the bridge.

Probably depends if you’re on a private pentagon road, or a public road. If you’re on a public road you can film, AND it’s legal to film or photograph the outside of government buildings*. There’s been a number of cases on this, and every time the person filming has been in the right ultimately.
*some exceptions likely apply, but I have a hard time believing the outside of the Pentagon is one of them with how often it’s photographed and filmed. I run my fly12 all the time when biking through the pentagon on public roads though, and see tourists take pictures too.
CFR Title 41, Section 102-74.420 covers federal policy regarding photography.

I did this ride this year. It was fabulous! Only did Saturday and Sunday but it’s a nice area to cycle, the distilleries are wonderful, and the organizers will schlep your goodies back to the Basecamp so that you don’t have to try to carry booze back on your bike. I’ve already signed up again for 2019.

A buddy and I are signed up for all three days this year. We’re planning on camping, from the information he received about activities at the campsites I’ll need to train my liver as well as my legs

Participantdo you need those of us who intend to be slack…er…friends of FS to do anything to let you know we signed up for the strava page, but did not register?

ParticipantWhile many if us scoff at the idea you need a class on how to ride in the cold, was there not somebody on here last FS advocating the use of plastic bags over feet due to an incorrect understanding how sweat works?

I, and the folks I’m riding with, will probably sign up for Brancel Charters. I had a good experience with them in 2016.
I recognize that’s not really what you’re looking for AFHokie, but I thought I’d recommend Brancel for anyone considering RAGBRAI without joining a group.
No, that’s a starting point. I’ve never rode RAGBRAI and I’m not certain I’ll be able to this year, but signing up for the lotto keeps the option open.

The beginning of the video shows a heavy four-engine jet taking off from DCA. No heavy jets can take off from DCA’s short runways, plus they’d probably violate noise limits. On the upside, I saw at least two bicycle shops in the video.
The way some of the articles discussing the Amazon announcement read, you’d think they’ve already begun lengthening the runways

ParticipantI can’t make it (wedding anniversary), but you may want to consider including the site of the future WWI Memorial at Pershing Park, the DC War Memorial and you’ll essentially roll by/around the Women’s Memorial in ANC.

Oh boo! The ones from my link are $29.90 with free shipping. Maybe just pasting the link will work: http://www.bargainchildrensclothing.com/38102.html
And they are for adults, despite the parent website name of “Bargain Children’s Clothing”…
Not to nitpick, but the uniforms they wore in the movie were desert tan flight suits [emoji6]
