ParticipantObviously those who still have their neon-green bands should continue to use them. If you don’t like them on your pants, because you have fat ankles or something, you can put on your bike as many of us have done. I have about 15 left I think, which I can make available through some ridiculous contest or something.
As Komo has pointed out, there was only a single run of them, ensuring their increasingly greater vintage value in years to come.
I’m in the “overheating” club on the neck warmer; I wouldn’t ever wear it. As an identifier, though, I might tie it on my bike somehow.
The reflective tags idea is good. Matching the neon green color might be a good idea. I’ll see if the supplier of the bands makes those, too.(It seems that FFX_Hinterland & DrP both earned bands in the ridiculous contest last year, and I never awarded them. I owe you.
Correction: Evidently I did award them. Thanks FFX.)December 6, 2016 at 4:52 pm #1061341DrP

Actually, at the end of the award ceremony and the final happy hour you said that you had them and that we should just pick them up (they were in a marked “envelope,” manila folder, I think). So I picked mine up on my way out.

ParticipantIf your band was stolen with your bike, I will give you a new one.

ParticipantThere seems to be a fair amount of interest in safety reflectors, and I like Steve O’s idea of staying with the neon-green color. Would people use something like this combination set of under-saddle triangle, zipper pull, and two lace tags?
Feel free to browse through the cycling-related catalog and let me know if there’s anything else that — haha — catches your eye. Reflective stickers? Spoke reflectors? Tire reflectors? And yes, Judd, bike safety flags are an option too.

ParticipantThe seat flags work for me since I don’t think I could convince 50 people that they want a safety flag for the minimum quantity.

Another option are small safety reflectors, either the clip-on type or the ones that dangle from little chains. They come in fun shapes and colors, and can be attached to zippers or knapsacks or other gear. But I’m not sure where to buy them in bulk. My brother in Sweden gets these for us all the time, so maybe he knows a good source.
Sounds good. Alibaba lists 2″ snowflakes for 20 cents (minimum order $100): https://m.alibaba.com/product/60330932260/Snowflake-shape-Glow-in-dark-pvc.html or maybe https://m.alibaba.com/product/60468587331/promotional-gifts-reflective-snowflake-shape-acrylic.html but the soft ones are probably better (less fragile, less noisy, safe for attaching to helmet or clothing).

FWIW, I would never use an under-saddle triangle, because I have a light under my saddle, and the triangle would cover it up. I’m not sure how many others are in the same position.

Sounds like I have a potential convert for the Freezing Saddles 10 Foot Safety Flag. Guaranteed not to obscure bike lights!

ParticipantYeah sorry gotta reject all possible accessories because none of them can be affixed to the quantum entangled 5th dimensional surface of my flying saucer.

Why just 10 feet?

ParticipantHere’s the catalog for the biggest producer of safety reflectors in Sweden. There are some interesting options, though they cost more than the twenty-cent ones from China.

My brother’s written to the company asking about bulk pricing. He could bring them in his suitcase at Christmas so we wouldn’t pay for shipping from Sweden.
Alternatively I’d be happy to go with any of the above suggestions, especially the ones from Komorebi’s catalog.December 7, 2016 at 1:39 pm #1061399dbb

+1
We could safely assume that if anybody knows freezing, it would be the Swedes.
