ParticipantOK OK, I’m not the captain but I felt a little left out not seeing a thread dedicated to our awesome team so I decided to get things started.. our awesome Captain Stacey can take things over from here. So… I know a few of you, but many of the names on our team are new to me so lets get aquatinted and then create a team name. For those of you that have not participated before, choosing the name is generally the most difficult and arduous part of the entire competition…. teams have divorced in the past before ever posting miles…. just saying.
BTW…I’m Dickie (duh)… I’ve been on the forum long enough now to see at least 25 different threads dedicated to blinding blinkies on the trail and I can usually be found at one of the coffee clubs each week (sometimes all of them). I’m a new dad so not sure if that will translate into elevated or depleted miles but I’ll do my best to keep competitive. Looking forward to meeting you all during this stupid/fun competition.

ParticipantThanks for getting us started. I’m a multi year veteran of freezing saddles but I only post middling miles. However, if you don’t already know, consistency (that is, riding every day or nearly every day) is one path to success. It might be sleazy, but a 1 mile ride every day if the week is worth 77 points, the equivalent of riding 67 miles one day a week. We need some big mile Eaters to win, but every ride matters.
I offer “team Un17 cycles” as a lame name suggestion.

ParticipantHi guys! and girls!
I’m Emma, and this will be my third Freezing Saddles. So glad they are allowing remote participants (if we participated in the past) now!!!
I miss DC, but am loving my new home base in Missola, MT. Like Capt. John C, I don’t ride far, but I ride daily. Here’s to hoping I don’t eat any more ice.January 8, 2016 at 4:51 pm #1044402MFC
ParticipantHola. This is my first time on Freezing Saddles. Most of my riding is commuting, about 11.5 miles each way, usually 3 or 4 days a week although I tend to wimp out if its too cold or there is snow/ice on the MVT.

ParticipantEmma- I’m so glad you’re on our team. Are you planning to fly (or bike)in for the ending happy hour? It was great fun hanging out with you last year. I should clarify that my actual name us Chris, I’m no longer in the military, and John is no part of my actual name. CPTJohnC just an internet pseudonym that I’ve used for 25 years.

ParticipantTo add to Chris’ name suggestion I’m throwing out:
“Lucky#sleventeen”

ParticipantYeah Chris, I know your name is Chris–I remember you from real life AND strava life! I was trying to remember your screen name, because privacy concerns? Lol.
My dream is to attend the ending happy hour…keep your fingers crossed I can save the money!

I’ll cross my fingers and my toes. And I’m just glad I’m not eminently forgettable. But I also explain the ridiculousness of my screen name to avoid too much confusion at our first team meet up… we will be doing a team meet up, right? (Emma gets a pass, from me, at least)

ParticipantSo, looking at the Strava team page and the Freezing saddles site we only have 6 members out of the 13 logging miles or signed up, thus we are in last place… not that it matters, but can we track down our non-contributors some how? We also need a proper team name…. any other suggestions? I love the idea of a team meet up (Emma via Skype of course)… I’m open to suggestions.

ParticipantHey All- this is my first year doing freezing saddles, with that said, I am open to handing over my captain title to someone with more seniority that knows the game.
I also like the idea of getting together, perhaps for a team ride?
Not sure about tracking down our missing teammates. But as the saying goes.. If you’re not first you are last.January 10, 2016 at 12:03 am #1044636elwbikes
ParticipantWell, I invited AverageJo to our Strava team, she’s one of my former roommates from DC (who I convinced to participate last year. Looks like it stuck!).
Can we ask team organizers to email missing people on our behalf or something?January 10, 2016 at 12:05 am #1044638elwbikes
ParticipantWhat about Team 17 Magazine? Hahahahahahaha.

ParticipantHello team members!
Does the team name have to have the number in it? I am amused by the name suggested by the thread name – Thundercats.
Anyway, looks like we are not the only ones missing people on Strava (assuming all teams have about 13 people). Hopefully the missing are all spending too much time riding to make sure that they have joined the Strava club.
