ParticipantTime it passes, it changes us, it comes back around.
Crystal City is named for Crystal House which was built in 1963. By Charles E Smith. The benefactor of Charles E Smith Jewish Day School, in Maryland. We briefly considered sending POTM to school there in 1996, when I worked in Maryland. She is now 30.
When I visited my brother who lived in DC in the late 70s, the terminus of the metro was in Crystal City. I wanted to go visit the end of the line, imagining buildings shimmering with crystals, like Emerald City. My brother laughed. Did not manage to get there.
In 1997 or so I went to CC for a business meeting. Eh.
Now CC is for me the home of coffee clubs and bike to work week. Many memories.
Went to the garage races once. Then they shut down. Now I hear they will be revived?
I now live in a building in Alexandria managed by JBGSmith, which still owns most of Crystal City.
Time. Time and place and memory.

This huge old tree in the Woodend Nature Sanctuary (formerly Audubon) is a my picture of timelessness. And, in a two for one, meeting up with a friend I haven’t seen for a long time and enjoying a lovely ride is my idea of timeless! Thanks, Vanitha!

On cloudy days and at night, these sundials are timeless.
The sundial on the side of the house is listed on the North American Sundial Society webpage.

What I REALLY wanted was a TARDIS – but we don’t have anything like that around here that I know of (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TARDIS)
So I found the next best thing. Clearly this car was transported to 2023 from a whole nother era…..

Most of the houses in the neighborhoods that I rode through were built in the 1940s to 1960s. In the 2000’s and later, people have been buying up some these old, smaller home to raze them and build these much larger homes. As time moves on, we are losing starter homes and homes for the middle class. You can easily see this change as you ride through these neighborhoods.

This information display at the King Street Station shows that time is a slippery construct. There will never be another 7:27 PM on Feb 21, 2023.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that posted a picture of the time!

Your snapshot reminds me of The Beatles’ Abbey Road photo.

What is more timeless than the sky? It existed far before a human could photograph it, and will exist at least until the last being is capable of photographing it. It is every changing, but always there.
