2/20/23 Manic Monday

I decided to go with something unique to the 80s and special to our local area. As local bike shops are gobbled up by big corporations, we have to hang onto the ones that are truly community shops. One of my favorites is a A-1, their first shop opened in 1980, and during the lock-down, bike shop activity could best be described as, “manic”. This is Jake, the Herndon location’s top mechanic. Super nice guy and the opposite of manic.

2/20/23 – manic Monday

I went on this great ride today and met a coupla new-to-me FS ers who were so upbeat and can-do that they made me feel manic. I left the ride 6 hours ago & I’m still buzzing [emoji2957]

The 80’s, missed them raising kids. I can sing Sesame Street songs, play Zelda, but I don’t have adult references to that decade, so here’s the 80’s, my experience with elementary school.

Trust me, I can relate! I started my career as a lawyer with a big firm in 1980 and had one kid in 1982 and one in 1983. I have no idea what happened during the 1980s!

2/21/2023 Time is a slippery contrast

Dark Star Park in Rosslyn VA. Each year on Aug 1 (my birthday!) at 9:32am actual shadows caused by the poles and spheres align with permanent forms in the shape of the shadows on the ground beneath them. The date marks the date that William Henry Ross purchased the land that later became Rosslyn.
