    2/5/2023 – NASA’s Apollo 14 mission landed on the Moon on February 5, 1971.

I figured a ride to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center would be a great idea for this. Sadly, I’m nowhere close to it, so you’ll have to settle for this instead:

I heard this is where they make drawings of Moon landings.

This sculpture reminds me of a spacecraft such as Apollo 14.

I thought for sure someone else would have snagged a photo of this bench off of the W&OD with a MOON. Lucky for me they haven’t posted yet!

This sculpture is an expression of movement in metal form. The lines draw your eyes upward into the heavens, as if they are heading into space. The path of the lines remind me of the contrails that rockets leave behind during launches.

Sorry for the extemporaneous post – this isn’t an actual submission – but did anyone check this out? It seems to be “closed”. Is it a tree or what??

It says, “Apollo14 Moon Tree, temporarily closed. 10100 Laureate Way, Bethesda, MD 20814“

    2/5/2023 Apollo 14

While the Apollo 14 astronauts were walking on the moon, a Russian robot named Lunokhod 1, which was operated by remote control, was exploring another portion of the lunar surface of the moon. The Lunokhod 1 looks very much like the robots found on the George Mason University campus. The GMU robots are used to deliver food to students.

My friend Lissa Bell ran over a groundhog with her Ebike about a year and a half ago, injuring this knee

Sorry to hear that about your friend, Rumi. These groundhogs are fearless. One of them even ran across the racing track in Montreal.

If you google maps Apollo 14 to the moon you can get directions to this tree. I wish i could say I saw it sign or something but I did not…but there is the tree that google maps calls Apollo 14 to the moon! From what I saw on the internet these trees are growing from seeds that had gone around the moon carried by astronaut Stuart Roosa on Apollo 14 in 1971

This sculpture reminded me of the mystic beyond all of the hard science around the Apollo missions, which by 14, had become pretty routine but nonetheless still magical stuff.

2/5/23 – Apollo to the Moon

I was watching the Grammy’s and looked up and it was TOO LATE! DARN! But here is my submission anyway. A view of the moon along Arlington Blvd (from the Arlington Blvd. Bike pat), heading into DC, and the Washington Monument can also be seen.
