1/30/23 FDR’s bday–WPA (PWA) funds helped to build the first addition on Washington Lee (now Liberty) HS in Arlington. Found some very cool websites in my search for an FDR-related finding: http://www.livingnewdeal.org (an interactive website that maps and gives details about New Deal artifacts/bldgs/gardens/murals etc) and https://wl.apsva.us/about-us/w-l-history-and-timeline/1924-1939/ (a history of Wash Liberty HS)

These artistic bike racks are a work that the artist called, “Duck, Duck, Goose” based on the children’s game. When the maintenance guys went to install them, they saw this as a mama duck and two ducklings. So, they installed it backwards, “Goose, Duck, Duck.” (I was on the committee that was involved with getting these for Reston. No amount of argument or pleading has worked to get them to reinstall it correctly)

I saw a woman on the W&OD wearing her helmet that way. At first glance I thought it was a new style of helmet but after she went by (the other direction), the penny dropped.

Today I road a sleaze mile. The circle was Hillcrest, Midvale, Ball, Bellvale, and return to Hillcrest. I passed my brother’s driveway. Look closely at the address sign. The driveway enters the property backwards—thru the backyard. Perfect for backyard day.

This address is a palindrome. The number is the same forwards and backwards. To top it backward day off, I rode a loop in the neighborhood clockwise instead of my usual counterclockwise.
