    1/21/23 – Waterfall

At the holding pond built to provide water for the water wheel powering Peirce Mill’s grindstone. The mill provided flour for the government cafeterias from 1936 to 1958.

You are correct, Kelley. It can’t be more official when my partner in crime Janet says so! :) I am smiling, but I am dead serious. :)

Great — I just went back to my one without a photo, and used the edit function to erase my complaining and load the photo. Just letting people know that editing is easier than re-creating.

    1/21/2023 – Waterfalls

I got lucky today. Wasn’t sure I’d come up with anything.

Not quite Niagara Falls, but it was a major tourist attraction today. I stopped to take this picture!!

I found this waterfall halfway through the 4-mile climb at the Frederick Watershed.

This tiny waterfall is in a stream in Reston, accessible from a path that circumnavigates Reston National Golf Course.

    1/21/2023 waterfall

The pickings were slim for waterfalls in the Montgomery Ag Reserve, the site of my previously planned ride today. I took a couple of pictures of water falling over rocks in the small stream beds I managed to find on the ride. They definitely looked better in person (although they were pretty sad even at then).

This CD Cellar door reminds me of DC’s Cellar Door.
The Cellar Door was a music venue in Georgetown in the 1960s and 1970s. Some of the artists who played there were Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Richie Havens, Carole King, Gordon Lightfoot, Judy Collins, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Richard Pryor, Tom Paxton, and Tommy Smothers.

    1/22/23 – DC music

John Philip Sousa was born in DC and had great influence on military music for the nation. But he also did songs such as, “You’ll Miss Lots of Fun When You’re Married” (1890)

So this is an homage to Sousa and his songs of the heart.
