I saw this psychedelic tire cover a couple of days ago and was so hoping the car would still be around today. And it was! #scavhunt The 60s

I love this pic! Yours is the first pic I’ve seen to showcase the psychedelic narrow of the 60s – which is what most people think of first when they hear “the 60s.”

    1/9/2023 60’s

News and events associated with the Vietnam Conflict were a big part of the news in the 1960’s. The POW/MIA flag was originally made to draw attention to the number of troops who were Prisoners of War or Missing in Action in Vietnam. Today, it is also a symbol of all those who still haven’t come home from other conflicts, as well. This flag was in front of the VFW in Fairfax Station.

This shouldn’t require an explanation. If it does, read up on your US history.

Nothing…no, nothing says the 60’s like the Americana Hotel

Gaze upon it, my friends, because it will soon be naught but a pile of rubble. [emoji22]

The Landmark Mall at the intersection of I-395 and Duke Street in Alexandria VA epitomizes the expansion of consumerism in the 1960s. Today it is a pile of urban rubble ready for brownfield redevelopment. 530897ca2229d89253667ce06691d70e.jpg

Do I even need to explain the connection between “Flower Child” and “peace out” to the 60s? “Peace in” for the entrance is amusing, though.

1/9/22 the 60s–found so many things of that decade including me (child born in the 60s), but that was done already. Many homes in Tampa suburbs are from the 60s. This iconic home exhibiting International Style architecture was on my ride today. The neighbor said he thinks it was built in 1960 and “you should see the inside. It is beautiful.”

    Random -irrelevant details:

Sadly I spent about an hour researching the bridges I crossed and more to see what may have been from the 60s. I rode over Sand Key Bridge (& took pictures on and of) built in the 90s to replace the original Clearwater Pass bridge built in the 60s.
