In 1944, delegations from China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States met here at Dumbarton Oaks to deliberate over proposals for the establishment of an organization to maintain peace and security in the world. The outcome of these meetings was the United Nations charter.

Foundation of the house at the Abingdon Plantation. Built around 1746 and destroyed by a fire in 1930.

The remains of the house are located between two parking garages at Washington National Airport.

I went by three homes that are on the Nat’l Register of Historic Places. The first two were way off the road and hard to get a decent picture. The third was right along the road (The Historic Nat’l Road), so I was able to get a decent picture.
