On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the act creating the National Park Service, a new federal bureau in the Department of the Interior responsible for protecting the 35 national parks and monuments then managed by the department and those yet to be established.

You’ve heard of Arches National Park? Well, these are at least arches…there are NO National Parks in El Paso. A National Memorial at the Chamizal, and a State Park in the Franklin Mountains … and these Arches have valentine hearts on them!

You should have taken the bike to Guadalupe Mt. Park and done a short ride. That would have been the best picture!!

Had to squeeze in a ride between mom’s 10-11:30 cardio therapy and 2pm regular doc appt. No time for travel Didn’t even have time to ride 10 miles!

Biking is fun, but it’s not the most important thing that I do.

You can see Longs Peak (if the photo loads large enough…plus I annotated w/an arrow if it helps), which is surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park.
