If I was giving points — this would get extra for seizing the moment to turn an “ugh” into an “aha!”

ParticipantI rode out to the new theater (Alamo Drafthouse) where they advertised (on line) that they’ll be showing Groundhog Day this evening. I was hoping there would be something . . . ANYTHING that would be suitable for the scavenger hunt photo. What I didn’t know is that the road it’s on is under SERIOUS construction. Playing frogger on the roundabouts was nothing compared to getting into the parking lot so I could go look for the little rodent. It included zillions of fast moving cars and trucks, a newly laid entrance that was still warm as I walked across it, and carrying my bike over sand so as not to accumulate goathead thorns.
Nothing depicting a groundhog or the title or anything. So I went to my back-up plan and stopped at the grocery store on the way back.

Went to Punxsutawney Phil’s place after work but he had already gone to bed after putting in a long day.

Groundhogs are also known as woodchucks, so I went looking for some Woodchuck Hard Cider. Naturally, the first two supermarkets I went to didn’t have any, but the supermarket that I live on top of did. I should have started there.

Participant2-2 groundhog day
I celebrated Groundhog day by shoveling way too much snow (8″), heading out on my bike to survive a Freezing Saddles sleaze mile, getting stopped by a car telling me to be careful, and another one saying “wow, a bike, that looks hard.”
Along the way I stopped to look for my bike’s shadow in the fresh white snow. Nothing. Let’s hope that means your Freezing Saddles winter will be coming to an end before too long!
I’m not sure how traditional this celebration is for Groundhog’s Day, but it will be memorable.
