Note that for the 1/2/2022 “beauty prize” I only considered TRUE RHOMBUSes (we’ll let it slide for the participation points) which are not squares turned sideways!

ParticipantREMINDER FOR PARTICIPATION PRIZE PARTICIPANTS
IN addition to tagging your strava ride with #scavhunt please upload at least one photo of the object of the day onto your strava ride for the day. (You can go back and fix that now.)
When I award the top 10% winners for participation, I will only count strava rides that are both hashtagged AND have a photo, though I will grant a lot of leeway in terms of qualification as long as it’s obvious it’s related to the scav hunt item. For example, many folks did sideways squares for the rhombus day, but I’ll still give you all the participation point.

There’s a globe sculpture off Hoofs Run Drive in Alexandria that commemorates Alexandria’s role as a global trading port:

I did my ride early this morning before the storm hit, but I bet the sculpture is a literal snow globe right now.

Oxford begs to differ on your rhombus opinion, FYI:

“any parallelogram with equal sides, including a square.”Boomer (well, Google) is technically correct here. For next time–in order to more rhombify the submissions, one could specify a rhombus that does not include a 90 degree angle.

To be clear the beauty prizes are arbitrary and capricious by nature anyways. All participation prize participants with “square” rhombuses qualified for points on the leaderboard!

With the construction of the Cielo Vista Branch Library, artist Patricia “Sabina” Munoz was commissioned to integrate a public art element to serve as a welcoming gateway and entrance to the library. Continuum is a spherical sculpture designed with custom Venetian tile. Inspired by the daily activities which take place at a library, Munoz designed the sculpture as a metaphorical reference to an individual’s continued interest in expanding and developing one’s knowledge. This may not qualify as a true sphere but it’s a cool enough piece that I wanted to share it.

ParticipantI like your photo at night with the red light reflections! I detest what they did sticking this sculpture in the middle of all that glass and concrete and steel. It loses so much of the power of the piece. Ah well …

Participant1/3/22: Sphere
I decided against a sculpture and went with the natural today, a black walnut found in the Centennial Arboretum:
I won’t deign to address AlanA’s comment (yesterday’s or the inevitable one on this one)

This person’s yard was full of spheres. I’m glad everything was still lit on my midnight ride.

Hopefully the sponcers will accept a snow covered sphere.
I do have an image from 12:14 where the’re uncovered, but this ones a lot prettier!
