Happy this truck didn’t disappear since the last time I saw it there.

Instead of goodies at Christmas, it’s Christmas at Goodies.

I was looking for the cut-out Nativity scene I spotted a couple of days ago, but it must have been taken down. The 12 foot inflatable Santa will have to do.January 29, 2022 at 10:08 pm #1118116Nadine

There are Christmas lights on the ground surrounding these five cute snowpersons, and another set of lights on the eaves of the house.January 29, 2022 at 10:48 pm #1118122camiller

This is at Fort Bliss in El Paso at the Old Fort Replica. There are several pine trees here in various stages of decoration. The grove is called “Our Hero’s Trees”, dedicated to military members past, present, and future. It is a truism for a military child that your military parent will miss at least one major holiday in your life, if not several. In my case, we made reel-to-reel Christmas tapes in August to send to my dad in VietNam so he’d get them on time. We never expected him to join us for a holiday and when he was home, we served/helped at the mess hall for part of the day so that soldiers who were away from their families would feel taken care of.
So these trees made me tearful. I imagine that around Christmas, they invite the kids on base whose parents are deployed to come hang an ornament on the tree for that parent. I couldn’t find anything to confirm it, but that’s what I’d do.

I found a Fireball Christmas 1/2 off display at my first rest stop. That was going to be my picture. But, I found a Saguaro Cactus that had a string of Christmas lights on it at my second stop. This is way better than a Fireball picture.

I was hoping to use this house for an obscure animal scavenger hunt. Need a narwhal? Unicorns (close up)? Dinosaurs, dragons, or Big Bird?
Merry menagerie!January 30, 2022 at 1:35 am #1118135AlanA
