I tried to get one of the locks on the C & O Canal, but after bicycling on a muddy and icy towpath for 2 miles to get there, I wasn’t able to follow the canal into Georgetown to find them. So this view from a bridge will have to do.

I knew that none of the bridges here that I could get to in the time I had available today would be beautiful compared to the ones in the DMV. So I went with gritty, industrial, and life-saving. This pedestrian bridge links two sides of a very busy road (Montana Ave a/k/a Rt. 62). Sadly, it’s only for stairclimbers. Those of us who use wheels have to use a signalized cross walk which can feel like frogger.

A much improved crossing of the W&OD over Langston Blvd in Falls Church.
Also, the smaller bridge (to the West) crossing the creek has been resurfaced.

This bridge which has an annoying curvature to it connects Berwyn Heights and Lake Artemesia here in PG County. The first picture that I took had the bicycle on the left side. But then I realized… oh yeah, maybe I should take this picture instead with the bicycle on the right side.
