Dogue Creek as it passes the Mount Vernon Grist Mill & Distillery on its way to the Potomac. It widens significantly just a little downstream and forms the basis for the Ft. Belvoir Marina. My local state senator organizes an annual clean up of Dogue Creek further upstream which pulls out TONS of trash.Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk

So, I didn’t stray far from home today, and the only waterway near me was on the street. Well, it IS a waterway, and water travels down this waterway into the water collections tunnels under the street. Although in this case, the water is in a freezing state.
OH NO! My trike has broken through the ice and fallen into this waterway!!

Participant1/23/2022 Waterway This waterway is in Long Branch Stream Valley Park in Fairfax. It was so nice of the folks on my ride to stop and let me play with my boat in the waterway. My boat didn’t float very well so I’ll need to take it back to the shipyard for repair.

When you’re in high desert in the southwest, waterways are hard to come by. Yes, the Rio Grande runs through here forming the southern US border, but in this area it is neither “Grande” or much of a “Rio”. Nonetheless water is essential, as this sculpture (Water by Ilan Averbuch) in front of the fire station and a new water tower depict.

South Platte River.
A major waterway in Nebraska, and this is the start of it in Denver.
You can navigate via paddleboard and innertube at this point, but not much more.

Anacostia River. According to the Anacostia Watershed Society, “The word Anacostia is derived from the Nacotchtank Indian word anaquash. Literally translated into English the word means village trading center.”

FYI. There is also a New Albany, OH! It appears as though you are in the IN one, though. I drove through Louisville once, but don’t recall seeing any signs for New Albany.
