Translated to Spanish the Cigarra isn’t present in Spain. I went across town to the Insect Park Museum in the town of El Escorial in hopes of getting in to see what they had. I took too many wrong turns and bad calls that I was too late and could only get the statue of the cigarra insect at the door of the Insect Park Museum.
Thought for sure my dog Maddie had eaten all the live and dead cicadas in a 3 mile radius. Spotted this one in the ivy and leaves. (Dog shown separately)
1/12/22-. #scavhunt for the elusive cicada. I hunted but did not find…looked nuts searching in the dirt at the base of trees and looking up tree trunks. Thought I found one in the V of an oak, but just leaves. Kids get a prize for playing. Do I? Found their burrow holes where they went for another 17-year nap
I didn’t find any on my first ride and thought it might be impossible, but after seeing here that others found some… challenge on! After dinner I rode back out to some trees I had seen swarming with cicadas in the spring and used my super bright headlight to find a couple. A little worse for the wear, but under some leaves, there they were!

1/12/2022 Cicada husk
Not the best specimen. It is the bottom part, covered in a spider web along with a leaf (top), attached to a shed, and rather the worse for wear. But since the only other cicada husk I knew of was in Columbia, and I wasn’t up to bicycling there, I took what I could get.

I just noticed that the graffiti matches my bike!!
Those who seen me ride know that I love to match.
