Less than 1/4 mile from my place. Was thinking about pansies and there they were! Selbyville (aka West Fenwick) Delaware

US National Arboretum. Why is pansy used as a term of weakness? They made it through this weather!

PS. This was posted in time, but on the wrong thread. It’s also on memorials.

PPS. I really hate this midnight deadline. Why can’t this be programmed to go with the time stamp on the photo? The rule should simply be that the photo is taken during the correct day and uploaded by 2 am or something like that. It’s really fidgety for some reason. Seemed to upload fine for the memorials thread, but when I tried to upload the same pic here first I got a lot of wheel spinning on this site and then, when I tried to press “done”, instead of the site taking me back to the post to submit it, it kept asking me to DRAG the photo to the area at the bottom of the page. Didn’t do that on the memorials thread at all. But the photo doesn’t really drag – it just moves and then vanishes. Finally, it did appear in the box and let me go back to the post. I guess it’s nice seeing everyone’s photos here (there’s another page somewhere for Parks) but so rough.

Chris, what are those cable looking thingies stretching from your saddle to your rack for?

It’s one bungee cord with 4 bands that can wrap around things…i usually use it when emergency “gotta take it home now” things pop up since I don’t have a car :)

(Also I saw sunrise and a huge rainbow. #BeatTheRain)

That rainbow was quite a surprise, wasn’t it? A nice reward for getting out to ride early, right?

The Path of Thorns and Roses is a sculpture that spirals upwards and includes six allegorical figures. One of the figures is Hope, a man with a bald head standing on his toes within a large circle of thorns. He holds an unbloomed rose in his hands.
The sculpture is at the Contraband and Freedmen Cemetery Memorial in Alexandria.

Cool – I thought you’d found a cosmic new bike accessory that I would need to find for my Surly! Bungees, I have. :-)

This may not quite qualify, but, oh well! You might also be able to imagine some thorns in the trees.
